When the author, Karen Vyverberg, refers to geocentric and anthropocentric she means to understand and look at things in perspective of the earth which has been around for billions of years rather than having the perspective of a human who's only been around for a few hundred thousand years. We see the earth and can better understand our impact and how the earth changes when looking at things from a larger scale. This ability is incredibly beneficial as we can compare the earth from before and after mankind to see how we've affected the our planet. We can connect are actions to problems such as climate change and sea-level rising to our activity as humans. We see increase consumption of fossil fuels which in turn causes more pollutants to be released
Chapters 1–5 introduce an average boy who would become a remarkable man. Born in 1917, Louie Zamperini was the child of Italian immigrants. Growing up in Torrance amidst poverty and anti-Italian bias, Louie got in the habit of running outside the law. He started smoking when he was 5 years old and drinking when he was 8. The Red tent is a book that follows the life of a woman named Dinah. The stories that are told throughout take place in biblical times, and follows some of the lineage of the bible itself. The book begins by telling the story of Dinah’s four mothers, along with their relationship with Dinah’s father Jacob. After being introduced to Dinah herself, the book follows her life story from beginning to end, all the way from Haran, through Canaan, Shechem, and into Egypt. Throughout this paper, I will be describing and comparing events of the book verses modern day, in relationship to child birthing practices, family dynamics, personal life experiences of characters, along with discussing herbs, spices, and medications used by

Everyone has a favorite holiday. There is Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, the Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then there is everyone’s favorite- Christmas! Christmas comes with the feeling of warmth, of family, and of home. What happens, though, if all one ever knew during Christmas time was completely changed? What happens if home just is not home anymore? Sandra M. Castillo addresses that situation that actually occurred in her own life in her poem, “Christmas, 1970.” Castillo moved from Cuba to the United States in 1970 and as an eight-year old she reveals her true feelings during and about the Christmas season. Throughout the poem, she reveals a theme of what home means to her, written in her point of view as she sits under her aunt’s Christmas tree at her aunt’s apartment. Castillo uses devices like symbolism, imagery, and flashback to support her them that no one can return to their childhood home.
The book I read is called All The Answers by Kate Messner. The main character in this book is the curious, yet anxious, Ava Anderson. This book takes place in a few different places in the same, unnamed, small town. They include a school, Ava’s house, a retirement home, and an obstacle course. The part in the story that gets it put in motion is when one morning Ava needs a pencil for a math test. While she is rummaging through the junk drawer and finds a blue pencil. When she gets to school and starts her test, there is a question she is clueless about. She write on her paper, using the blue pencil,” What is the formula for finding the circumference of a circle?”. Then she hears a voice tell her the answer. Later that day she is asking the
2) What does the title of the story suggest about the townspeople’s feelings toward Miss Emily? Why do they feel this way about her? (Or: What does she represent to them?) Is there anything ironic about their feelings?
In the book The Sixth Extinction written by Elizabeth Kolbert there are a lot of examples that are going on in the world today and also examples of things that started when the first human being was around. This book talks about how we are in the sixth mass extinction, and that is caused by humans. Overall the book goes chapter by chapter and talks about the different mass extinctions there have been, and how they were caused, but also the book talks about different species that have gone extinct and the reasons why. For example the book talks about golden frogs that are located in Panama and how they were seen everywhere located in El Valle de Anton, but they suddenly started disappearing. They were disappearing because of a chytrid fungis cause by humans, when humans travel they were bring this fungis to different places, this ended up killing the frogs (Chapter 1, Kolbert). That is just one example, but throughout the book Kolbert talks about different extinctions like this and what caused them.
By the story’s conclusion, the reader can go back through the story and identify many episodes where Miss Emily behavior
In some areas, Cooke’s writing seems a bit accusatory. He asserts, “to argue that such a requirement would have done anything whatsoever to stop recent massacres isn’t just wrong ‒ it’s deeply dishonest. Those who have been chastising Congress for not reacting to massacres by passing legislation…should be ashamed of themselves” (Cooke 6). Towards the end of his article, Cooke begins to criticize Obama for the way he has addressed the issue of gun violence. Cooke even goes so far as to use words such as brazenly, angrily, tantrum, and childish when writing about President Obama’s speech and actions when dealing with the matter. Instead of just condemning others’ views, Gopnik is more assertive in his own. He knows what he believes and he confidently states it.
The book Serena by Ron Rash, Galloway the henchman as he’s known as Serena’s right handed man. As I know right handed person of one’s is someone who one trust and depend most and does not worry about their work since one knows that the right handed person will do it right. This make me understand more because Serena trusted Galloway more than anything and did what he wanted her to do. There was also one time when Galloway “saved by a woman… anything I bid him to do. Anything” (Rash 181). Galloway had some injuries when he was asked what he can do with his one hand.
Geraldine Brooks’ in-class visit and evening reading at the Marvin Center were astonishing. Overall, I enjoyed hearing Brooks’ discussion on writing. She revealed that Hanna Heath was originally supposed to be Bosnian. However, Brooks could not get the voice right. She stated that if you can’t get the voice right, there is no point in writing the story. This is true because a story is not compelling if the voice is not authentic.
On Christmas Day morning, Collins and Angel go to Roger and Mark’s apartment and Collins introduces Angel to them. She gives Roger and Mark money after she earned $1,000 by killing a noisy dog named Akita. Then, Benny arrives and tells Roger and Mark that if they can convince Maureen to cancel her protest that day, he will let Roger and Mark live in his studio project rent free, but they both rejected that offer. After Benny leaves, Mark then goes to help fix the sound equipment for Maureen’s protest while Collins and Angel go to a local support group meeting. While Mark is there, he runs into Maureen’s new girlfriend Joanne and it gets awkward until they start talking about their feelings
Butler’s work majorly discuss problems of race, gender and power relations along with self-determination that she transfers from the human society within communities of the aliens, as well as vampires. On the contrary this essay, would present the in depth evaluation of separate forms as well as reasons about oppression, towards that protagonist within Fledgling has been exposed. On the contrary, this would show in which manner protagonist has been empowered along with therefore, showing resistance, change as well as future of equality (Stewart).

His production company was doing more than alright and was considered the best in the country if not the word, so price was not going to be a problem. Hos family’s happiness was priceless. His wife insisted that he did not need to go to all this trouble and that them being together was all that they needed to be happy, but he was not going to listen to it.
