One is able to notice the clear connections between Fosters explanation of seasons, and the use of summer vacation in Oates’s short story. The first time summer vacation is mentioned in the story it is followed by mentioning Connie's desire for the boys the she often daydreams about. “...and the rest of the time Connie spent around the house - it was summer vacation - getting in her mother’s way and thinking, dreaming about the boys she met.”(Oates, 2) The trait of adulthood, romance, and sexual experience are all part of the characteristics of summer. The author uses summer in order to set the mood for this novel, as summer initially signifies this romance and sex in this story. The sex aspect of summer is not always used positively as it soon becomes part of Connie’s downfall. The genre historical fiction focuses young readers to inform them about historical and significant cultural events in history, but to do in a way that is comfortable for readers in this age group. One Crazy Summer is a good example of young adult literature of highlighting cultural/historical events and entertaining to its audience. Two characteristics that make this a great novel for middle school readers is that 1- It encourages further inquiry( historical) and 2-The situations and characters are relatable (Y/A novel).

The author of this essay Anna Quindlen purpose of writing School’s out for Summer is that when summer begins it has an effect on many hungry children. She thinks that America is not acknowledging child hunger enough. She thinks that people in America should hear more about child hunger publicly on the news and in the newspaper. She wants this so we could stop this in America.

This made it feel a little like watching a movie. For instance, I could picture Opal, the woman in the chocolate store and imagined her as being skinny with short brown hair. I could really get a sense of the characters. The books was written well in describing the scenery. I could picture the aunt driving up the coast after the funeral and her laying on the bed and eating chocolates and being grouchy. I also like that her pet was a chinchilla. It made her seem even more eccentric and odd.

Two Summers 4-26-18 The plot of my book is realistic. This is because the plot is that Summers dad did not want her to go visit him because he was busy working. However, this was not where Summer is staying. He was in Berlin. I know this because the text says, ¨Listen my Sweetheart´ -- Dad pauses, and there is no more static-- ´Iḿ- not sure- good idea- come- right now.” (Friedman, 63) . This supports my topic a being realistic because that could happen to anyone with anything. If you ask a friend to come over and you say yes then there on there way and you call them and say you are actually busy doing homework. That's almost the same thing.

Kids can be  cruel when they are envious as shown in the short story, “All Summer In A Day,” by Ray Bradbury. The sun is what makes Margot happy, and when that gets taken away from her. In this short story there is several acts of cruelty to Margot by her classmates. These kids live in the planet of Venus, and they haven’t seen the sun in seven years, except for Margot. The kids are only nine years old so they haven’t seen the sun since they were two years old, but Margot moved there from Earth when she was four and she remembers the sun and that makes the other kids envious. In the beginning of the story it is the day that the sun is supposed to come out for the first time in seven years! The kids were skeptical except for Margot because she wanted to see it so bad. The kids were starting to prepare for the sun to come out but they were sitting inside waiting. While they were waiting the kids decided to lock Margot in a closet and not let her out. When the sun came out all the kids ran outside to play in the sun that felt so warm and nice on their skin, except for Margot, who was sitting inside in the dark closet. When the kids came back inside they felt sorry for leaving Margot in there. Envy can lead people to commit awful acts and cause shame as demonstrated throughout the character's actions in, “All Summer In A Day.”

The backgrounds are detailed, and on that balance where it looks like animated reality. Veronica Gandini's gifted coloring makes this issue gorgeous to look at. A big appeal of my collection is due to the artwork, accompanied with a fantastic story is a bonus. During the introduction, she plays with childhood palettes, as if out of an animated cartoon show for children. However, Soy's detailed pencilling makes me feel more adult reading it. A group of children, along with scientists get to live there, while being educated at the underground school. Margot, who is only 9 years old, wasn't born on Venus like the other children, but instead on Earth. She’s the only one who remembers how the sun felt through her skin and how beautiful it shined. On the contrary, the other children are jealous of her because she has some memory of the sun, while they don’t. Jealousy caused the children to harass, isolate, and make her depressed.
