The police alleged Syed because of phone records they obtained also their only witness Jay Wilds. In the murder case of Hae Min Lee, Adnan Syed should not have been convicted. Syed should not have been convicted on the account of Syed has no history of violence, the single witness in the case has major inconsistencies in his story about the events that occurred, and the lack of evidence that firmly connects Syed to the murder.

He is the murderer because Adnan told one thing to one officer then told another one something different, He told officer Adcock that the day she went missing he asked her for a ride, and that could have been an excuse to get into her car and kill her. Then, on page 2 of chapter 6 it states that Adnan told another officer that he did not ask her for a ride. This means that Adnan may have been trying to cover up the fact that he did ask her for a ride. This matters because why would he first say that he did ask her for a ride but then later say that he did not, What was he trying to hide if there should not be anything to hide.

Many people believe that Adnan syed did not kill Hae Min Lee. Most of them would back their belief by mentioning Jay’s testimony and how it was inconsistent. This shows that the people closest to Hae saw that this was an unhealthy relationship. This wasn’t a normal happy relationship, but more of a controlling one, where Adnan was over involved and trying to monopolize Hae’s time. An additional piece of evidence came from an interview with Aisha, a close friend of Hae’s. “The constant paging her if she was out… if we were having a girls night, he would stop by, like he would walk over and try to come hang out” (Koenig, “The Breakup”). This quote is proving that Adnan took it too far by giving specific examples of the measures Adnan took in attempt to take over Hae’s life.
