Year round schooling is better than regular school because, it allows the kids to retain more information and not lose what they learned, they also allow them to graduate earlier with higher retention levels. In discussion of Year Round Schooling, one controversial issue has been whether year round schooling is a good idea or not. People believe that year round schooling is a good thing and that it will increase academic achievement levels and benefit the students more than anything else. Students will also be able to advance more quickly since the schooling is year round, they have less to forget since the breaks are shorter. On the other hand people seem to believe that year round schooling takes away from the students and gives them less family time and less of an “Outside of school life” (NEA). In the research of year round schooling it shows that absences are most likely to be higher since it is year round. Their view is that we think that many students can benefit from year round schooling, and that is has more benefits than anything else.

The first reason why kids should have a summer break is that it makes school less complicated. According to Jennifer Brozak, a disadvantage of having a year round school is that the school budget has to increase. They will need to have more fundraisers in order to keep the school going. If they neglect to get the amount of money they need they sometimes cancel and let the students have a summer break. In addition, teachers are having difficulty with planning lessons for students and grading papers in a short amount of time they have (Brozak). In addition, Brozak says, because of the short amount of time teachers have to grade papers they are prone to burnout. This is one of the reasons that schools should have a summer break because both teachers and students’ mental pressure because of work (Brozak). As a student, I can say that breaks will be necessary to recharge and prepare myself

The average school period is one hundred and eighty days with small breaks in between and a three-month break during summer to ease students’ minds and let them relax. The Board of Education should make all schools in the United States year-round to increase educational time and decrease the loss of knowledge over the breaks. It gives students the same time to relax and plan family vacations periodically throughout the year, but never creates the stress of changing sleep schedules that summer break changes. Not only is it a good way to enhance education, but it also is better for planning family events, positive effects on budget, academic achievement, and could decrease the absence rate of students.

When I return to school after summer, I always struggle to remember anything from the months before. For this reason, I personally think kids should go to a year round school. Moreover, kids shouldn’t have such a long summer vacation. Students should go to a year-round school for more intersessions throughout the year, so they have less stress, it will be easier to remembering what they learned, and year-rounds schooling has smaller intersession you can use if you are falling behind, you can catch up.

Year round school helps with the complications of childcare issues. Parents won 't have to worry about paying for their child to go to a daycare or a summer camp. Child care can be very expenses and the child might even be upset about going to daycare everyday of the summer. Another child care issue is that if families have older children they could get stuck with watching their younger siblings. Then most of teenagers summer are spent watching their younger siblings when they could be enjoy their summer the way they want.

The third reason why we shouldn’t have all year round –schools is because, its tradition to have 180 day’s strait with 3 months of breaks and it gives us more important things to do in the summer. According to Julia Sines, to have a 3-month summer and do more fun activities to do all summer is better than going to school year round. Kids want to go on vacations with their parents. Some athletic kids won’t be able to play travel sports. Scientist say that year round school kids drop out by their senior year (Sines). Most juniors and seniors work in the summer for money for colleges and to save up, but they won’t be able to get money. It’s more American to have 180 straight days with 3-month break. Billee Bussard stated, “It is an idea that has been tried and failed for more than 100 years,” (Sines). So talking to that quote, why would we start now. Kids love going outside and swimming and playing games and making money, but because the kids go to year round schools they only have 3 weeks to do these fun

What do you do during summer break? Do you go on a long family trip, or do you have to get a job? Now imagine if those plans were ruined by year round schooling. Year round schooling is not beneficial for students and teachers because it can cause more stress, students get summer jobs, and people go on family trips and spend time with family and friends during summer break.

In conclusion, these are the reasons why year round school will not help a child. Along with these problems there are more such as attendance, making school fun, and taking away the lessons children learn on their own. It is unfair making a kid grow up so fast by putting them in a classroom all year. Kids have summertime for a reason like just having the freedom, learning more about independence, and exploring, year round school is taking that away from them. For most people they don't like school. People look towards those nice long summer breaks. however a lot of things happen over the summer, the main thing that happens is that students tend to forget everything they learned during the previous school year. By the end of the the first month of summer, all that knowledge has leaked out of the brain. Then when the students return in the fall, the first month of school is wasted by re-teaching students what they should have already learned last year. Year-round school is not a good idea. For one, the cost of essential items in school will rise. For parents, it gives them less time for “family time” since their children are too busy doing homework. Also, the student’s homework creates stress and they can’t do the outside activities they desire. Without year-round schools, it would benefit the school, the parents, and the students.

Most year-round schools have the same amount of days as traditional-calendar schools. The only difference is how the way days are arranged so summer vacation is shortened and more spread out. This way, fall, spring, and winter breaks are longer. Despite the fact that numerous individuals feel that year-round school is a terrible idea that will ruin summer vacation, schools in the United States should embrace a year-round school policy. Year-round schools don’t need to spend so much time reviewing.

Not every child prefers summer, and by having breaks spanning throughout different times of the year, each student would be able to enjoy every season however they please without the worry of school. The amount of intelligence a child has is more beneficial for a child's future, and even if a child's favorite season is Summer, a year-round school schedule could be more beneficial for the child in the long run.

All Schools should be year round because it could help the students academically. Also they won't forget what the learned.But also it lets them have more separate breaks then just one big pointless break. Statistics show that if you have one big long summer break you forget what you have learned. Because kids show up to school on the first day and forget what they have learned the previous year. So if those kids had school all year they could’ve had a better memory of what they are learning.
