Sustainable Architecture
"Sustainable Architecture" - this phrase in recent years is mentioned a lot. The concept of "sustainable architecture" is associated, even identified with the concept of green architecture, ecological architecture, environmentally friendly, energy efficient ... to reach a stable value for the environment human life, reduce negative impacts on the environment in the present and future. However, although this interpretation is correct, but only one aspect, because that's what people are missing and need to achieve. Try to reach and understanding of sustainable architecture in general and more simple ...

This shows that if planning is not stable or management planning - urban good also affect the sustainability of the project.
Sustainable culture
Architecture was born to serve the essential needs of human life. But architecture is not simply a function, capabilities such as objects, objects. The existence of the same architecture of human life has created the spiritual values . Architecture itself has aesthetic value, artistic value is part of the factors. There are small works, with the ancient architecture, over hundreds of years still exist. Many buildings that were built with permanent materials, not too stable structural, mechanical and material in its original meaning; but it still exists, and shine. Because his works contained the great cultural value. In other words, it is the culture of sustainable architecture. Government sustainability "invisible" This has tremendous power, a force without any harm, destruction was, whether natural or man. Conversely, can sustainable building structures, sustainable beauty is destroyed by other factors, such as planning, or administrative guidelines on the management of any construction or it be eliminated by bringing the non-human elements, without the support and consensus of the community.
Sustainable Architecture - a broad concept and has meaning. But there are also simple to understand, overview and detail at the factors that make sustainability. What material
Sustainability is becoming an ongoing trend in construction. This word in reference to construction means to be built sturdy while not depleting the environment around it. According to Lafargeholcum Foundations [1], “Sustainability is one of the worlds most talked about but least understood words, its meaning
This manifesto proposes an approach to sustainable design that I am interested in exploring during my time studying architecture. The idea of sustainability is a complex one, not without apparent contradictions. This makes it difficult to define in a wholly satisfactory manner. For the purposes of this manifesto I will advert to the definition proposed by Jason McLennan who asserts that sustainable design: “seeks to maximize the quality of the built environment, while minimizing or eliminating negative impact to the natural environment.” I find this definition particularly useful in the emphasis which it places on quality. By quality, in this
The indefinite growth of the human population, has monumental impacts on the natural environment, not only in the UK, but around the globe. Architecturally, the entire process of designing and constructing a building, both domestic and not, can lead to the rapid exhaustion of natural resources across the planet. Building with environmental design strategies in mind not only combats the impact we as humans have on the natural environment, but also has considerable economic benefits, due to lower running costs of buildings and advanced occupant productivity. There are also many social benefits, such as improved air quality which resultantly leads too enhanced health of a buildings occupants.
Being environmentally friendly isn’t merely a trend. After thousands of years of using the earth’s resources, we have finally come to realize that we are destroying this beautiful gift we were honored with. Architects play an influential role in trying to preserve this gift by encouraging a multitude of strategies that can be more cost efficient in the long run, be more comfortable for its users, and most importantly, have a lower carbon footprint. Strategies can include drastic changes to heat and air systems, construction material selections, or even specific design details to the architecture of a building that would reduce the amount of energy it consumes.
• The study also examines how the relationship between human well-being and the natural world can attribute to the welfare of future generations through design and consideration for a sustainable environment (C1, Section 4). For example, the structure allows for future flexibility with possibilities to reconfigure the internal layout and expand the basement to meet changing demands of future occupants.
“The good building is not one that hurts the landscape, but one which makes the landscape more beautiful than it was before the building was built” (Frank Lloyd Wright). Throughout the centuries, architecture has fascinated everyone. History is inscribed in buildings and they can express the political and economic power of a nation. Although time has gone by, buildings have not. You can still idolize ancient Egyptian and Greek architecture and see how the events that occurred at that time influenced them.
We believe a sustainable built environment is one that is more durable, more efficient, and more profitable with less risk.
Sustainability is the foundation upon which resilient and adaptive design was built. It “is based on a simple and long-recognized factual premise: Everything that humans require for their survival and well-being depends, directly or indirectly, on the natural environment” (Sustainability and the US EPA). Concern for the environment grew in the 1960’s, and after the creation of the EPA in 1970 the term sustainability came into use. “Sustainable development emerged as a result of significant concerns about the unintended social, environmental, and economic consequences of rapid population growth, economic growth, and consumption of natural resources.” (Sustainability and the US EPA). In the U.S., the history of sustainability is rooted in American
Sustainability, which in definition mean the capactiy of something to be maintained itself, is a concept that began to pick up traction in the mid-20th century. This
I plan to change America through sustainable architecture, because it helps maintain our environment clean and healthy. Through sustainable architecture you can take advantage of a site through its climate and it surrounding resources. By using solar power you use natural resources cleanly and help against greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the use of fossil fuels. Using solar power could also reduce cost by about 50%. Burning fossil fuels harms the environment because it releases Carbon dioxide which pollutes the air and could cause lung cancer. By changing the orientation of a building and its windows you could also save energy. The orientation of a structure should be from East to West, because you will gain more heat in the winter and
The book's selection of outstanding, best quality work provides several examples for homeowners with a discerning sense of style and environmental responsibility. The spectrum of featured projects has a range between energy efficient restoration and the construction of intelligent extensions to the planning and building of new low-energy or passive homes. The book introduces not only the current building forms and materials but also case studies examining the best division of space, architectural planning, and the use of innovative technologies to control and improve heating and air conditioning. Therefore, Building Better provides a striking overview of the topic of sustainable building, and insightful information on details from technical data to blueprints. In the book, both homeowners and architects have their motivations, ideas, desires, and real experiences. Against this background, Building Better is both an inspirational and a practical guide for everyone who thinks that the sustainability not as limiting, but rather as a creative opportunity. As such, it is an essential reference for everyone who wants to build a
Over the past few decades a small number of designers and design professionals have begun to realize their influence on the natural world and have decided to change the way they think of design and designing. This new approach has become known as sustainable design. Sustainable Design is a design philosophy that seeks to maximize the quality of the built environment, while minimizing or eliminating negative impact to the natural environment. In others words designing physical objects with the idea of creating under the principles of ecological sustainable compositions. This type of design is being having great advance and advertising during the last couple of years, therefore is becoming a new alternative in terms of designing and
Sustainability is a simple term with a fairly simple definition, a way of doing something that can be continued rather than having a finite limit. However, the much more difficult part is defining what things are actually meet the definition of sustainable. As a concept, we all understand it, but the great challenge is figuring out what it will look like in the real world and, perhaps even more difficult, putting the idea into
Sustainability, a common vocab being used in design industry nowadays. It is mean to design something with a well consideration of improve environment, people and economic, which has become the fundamental aspect when comes to initiate the design thinking. According to Oxford Institute for sustainable development, the tools to measure and construct sustainable urban development are prejudicial focus on environmental and economic aspects. Most of the time, ecological and economical sustainability are well concerned but Social sustainable, which merely shown or mentioned on any press or architect’s forum. This essay will talk about the social sustainability in design, by defining the social sustainability in design, the key elements of the
As people known, to use renewable resource and to save energy or comfortable indoor environment is far from the overall picture. Because construction mentioned above is an industry which include many aspects such as land use and application of advanced technology, etc. Therefore if we want to define what is green building we should recognize the whole industrial chain included each aspects and unintended environment, social, economic, consequence brought possibly of complex activity. Kats (2003) in his article stated that the sustainable or green building should deal with those key points: environment, resource & energy consumption, impact on people, financial impact and the world at large which is a broader set of issues such as ground water recharge or global warming, as well governmental policies are typically concerned about (Kats, 2003, P. 1). And another institute, Office of the federal Environmental Executive (2003) defined green building as the practice of increasing the efficiency with which
