Then “Don’t Blame Me” plays; an exquisite bop, with hints of gospel, such as a faint choir in the background. The chorus of this song is unique from her others, with Taylor singing in a more atypical style than usual. Along comes Swift’s fifth track in the album, “Delicate”, which is a smoot, modern, yet emotional ballad about her current love. Taylor’s sixth track and first single released off Reputation, “Look What You Made Me Do,” is a powerful, intense, and controversial song which represents a turning point in Swift’s career and a bloody thirst for revenge. Although the chorus is monotonous and could be improved, “Look What You Made Me Do” earned its place to be the first single released off the album by making the public feel a frisson that left us all in shock. The iconic lyrics “I’m sorry the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now… Why? Oh, ‘cause she’s dead!” creates a frightening ambiance in the song that makes you either despise it or become addicted to it. “Look What You Made Me Do” showed the world that Taylor is done with playing the victim, and that she’s sick of playing petty little games. After the haunting track that is “Look What You Made Me Do,” “So It Goes…” plays, which is a much more mature and scandalous version of Taylor’s previous love songs; leaving you pleasantly surprised. Soon after that is “Gorgeous,” an adorable, girly track with a
This song is all about Taylor convincing her crush that she is better for him than his current girlfriend. In this line, Taylor mainly talks about the boy’s current girlfriend and all the qualities that make it sound like she’s wrong for him. In this part of the song she mainly uses pathos to sway the judgement of the boy and more importantly, her fans listening to the song. Pathos is very important when trying to convince people because humans tend to concentrate on the emotional aspect of things. Especially when it comes to music. Using pathos, Taylor is able to stir up negative emotions about the complaining girlfriend right at the beginning of the song. At the last part of the line, she also uses pathos to show the contrast between her
Taylor Swift likes to invoke a lot of emotion into her music and includes several things she has experienced in her life. One major recurring theme in her songs is love.
The reason I included this song is that when I was in elementary school I rode the bus to school and home from school. When I would ride the bus that is when the kids would bully me on the way to school and that was an awful way to start the day with negative thoughts about myself, and then throughout the day the bullying would continue. However, in about second grade after many days of coming home crying because of the mean kids at school and on the bus, my parents got me an mP3 player and loaded a bunch of songs onto it. From that point on I would blast my music for the entire bus ride, one of the songs that helped me to understand that I had not done anything to deserve the people who bullied me bullying me was Mean by Taylor Swift. This
I’ve never really understood why Taylor Swift writes so many songs about ex-boyfriends, but these songs work because they are so relatable to not only my life but many others. The song “Fifteen” by Taylor Swift, takes me back to my freshman year of high school every time I hear it. This song makes me think of my first day of high school, my first “love”, and friends. When I was fifteen everything seemed so easy, school, my friendships, and my relationship. Little did I know when I was fifteen and just a freshman, that my life was going to change forever.
In the song ‘Blank Space’ by Taylor Swift it talks about the media's perception of a person and how they can manipulate it and turn it into something else. In the song Taylor plea’s when she say’s” I can make all the tables turn rose garden filled with thorns keep you guessing like “oh my god, who is she?” implying that with her façade she can manipulate people. An example of satire she used in her song was “Love's a game, wanna play?” showing humor in what love has become to or what it can turn into. In the end money and fame can make you or break you emotionally and socially.

Date rape becomes evident numerous times throughout this tune, when thicke repeats, “you know you want it” this phrase suggests that all girls want is sex, and that even if a girl says no, it actuals means yes. It is also used by sexual predators, to justify their actions Thicke further sings “ but you’re an animal, baby its in your nature”, this lines suggests that girls cannot be tamed; unable to act as human beings but rather animals that are superior to men. Thicke further sings “ just let me liberate you, you don’t need no papers, that man is not your maker”, this lyric suggests that he wants them to be true to their nature, wants them to be wild, free for sexual favours. In this lyric when thicke states ‘ man is not your maker’in itself
