Teaching is a lifelong learning process. It involves the learning of new strategies, philosophies, and methods. I can learn from colleagues, parents, classes, and from the students themselves. I want my students to take responsibility for their learning. I want to give them the tools to help become successful in their life. I think it is my responsibility to provide an educational environment that is encouraging and positive. As I reexamine my philosophy my belief that each child is a unique individual is strengthened. Education should enable an individual to discover his or her talents and how he or she can contribute to the community. Education should teach us to think. It should equip us with the power to make effective decisions. In the Conceptual Frame work it states one of the four main goals is Problem solving for Progress. Through problem solving students are able to test what they know and what they need to find out to solve a problem. It is through the acts of problem solving teachers and their students’ progress in their learning and in their thinking skills. I must be sure to include problem solving activities in my classroom. I want my students to make connections with the material I teach and how it applies to their lives. As an educator it is myresponsibility to provide opportunities for my students to discover and practice skills. I believe children learn from doing. Providing students access to hands-on activities and allowing time and space to use materials reinforce the skills/material. Students should be given the time and opportunity to practice and solve problems through groups and individual activities. Technology in the classroom has steadily grown over the past few years. I feel it has become an essential part of the classroom today. The use of technology and the information it can provide is available and I need to implement it in my lessons. All of my life I have enjoyed helping others. I have also loved the classes I have had with a really good teacher. I think it’s a wonderful feeling to be able to help someone and to know that there is someone there to help me when I need it. I want to help teach the future leaders of this country, as well as those content with just being themselves and staying out of trouble. I honestly believe in Rosseau’s idea that children are born good and that things in society contribute to whether or not they are troublesome. I want to help these children remain good. Although I plan to teach at the high school level, I still believe these “bad” children can be helped with the proper attention and care.
Education is fun and exciting, it’s a form of learning that student will carry through adulthood. I believing in teaching student by encouraging them to share their thoughts and participate (Smith, 1989). Students will be aware how to solve personal and social problems by using facts. Facts will be developed through conflict resolution. Students will be faced with challenges there whole life they need to learn good communication skills, real listening, and searching for solutions. Francis Bacon once said “knowledge is power”. Students will be equipped for success through the knowledge that the educator will help them discover. I believe a proper foundation lead by a teacher will give students an opportunity to strive and learn students will build confidence to carry later in adulthood.
I do not believe that there is only one correct philosophy to base classroom learning around, but I do think there are quite a few that can be integrated together to create the most suitable learning environment and best coursework progression scheme. However, I would argue that student-centered philosophies are best for maximizing the amount of student needs met. Schools for increasing potential in students to be successful outside of the classroom in intellect, social behavior, and critical thinking. As a child advocate, I believe each child has their own unique talent and it is my desire to help children meet their fullest potential. It is my personal philosophy to create an environment for children that promotes respect for each and every student and family, to allow children to learn the way that works best for them through developmentally appropriate practice, and to provide a constantly fun and caring, safe and positive classroom.

There are many skills and attributes that one must possess to be an outstanding educator. To be an outstanding teacher one must seek growth in their students, challenging them to push themselves past what they already know with confidence. There are many teachers, with many different teaching styles. There are teachers who are strict and do not allow for any disruptions in the classroom. Then we have teachers who do not even really care what is going on in the classroom. The way that these teachers, and so many more, teach is a result of their personal philosophies on education.
Children are not required to have real jobs, but they are required to attend school everyday. A teacher’s job is to show children how to make special use of their time and value their educational opportunities. Students do not get paid for their eight a.m. to three p.m. job, but they will be rewarded for the work that they put in. Teachers will only be truly happy and successful if they are dedicated to working hard and providing a positive attitude for their students. The real reward will be the success of their students and the growth of their knowledge of the world around them.
The student is the key element in the education process and teaching is in the heart of this process. The mentor should direct the student in his journey of study, and give him/her a clear space for creativity. My primary goal will be to help the students to think about their own thinking so they are able to recognize shortcomings and correct their reasoning as they go, as well as develop their skills, to be independent scholars.
Every teacher has their own philosophy and their style. They believe their philosophy, themselves, and students’ abilities. They must have been inspired by brilliant teachers, in other words, they had favorite teachers when they were students. My favorite teacher was an English teacher at my junior college in Japan. When I was a high school student, I was looking for a junior college to enter after graduating high school. I took the teacher’s trial class. When I first took his class, I was moved by him. Teaching is a career that takes patience, passion, and desire. Since I was about ten years old, my passion has resided in teaching, specifically special education teaching. When my aunt adopted my twin cousins and found out they were autistic, I never would have expected the hard road she would have to go down in terms of their education. My motivation to teach has always been and always will be my cousins. Without them, I would have never found the desire and love I have for special education children. A quote by Magic Johnson that I feel describes why I want to be a special education teacher perfectly is, “All kids need is a little help, a little hope, and someone who believes in them.” Special Ed children, no matter how they must be taught or how much they can comprehend, have the same rights to an education as any other child.
A great teacher can create a love of learning for a lifetime. I believe the critical components that are essential for the learning process to be effective, it should be fun and interesting. I believe my classroom should be a place where students feel safe. It should also be a place where student learn how to be social with adults and other students. I believe, as an educator knowing your students and planning accordingly will help students thrive in a classroom setting. Teaching is everchanging, sometimes minute by minute, so being adaptable is very important. I believe that it’s my job to better students’ lives, help develop an open mind, and to help them become independent thinkers.
The purpose of education is to provide students with a knowledge base that will enable them to achieve their goals. These goals will vary from student to student, but an education will enable students to reach their highest potential. Teaching I realized it is not an easy job, however it is a blessing when your students that were struggling are now succeeding it is very rewarding. Teachers have an important role everyday and it is important that teachers should know that they are the guiding to all student’s development, intellectual, social well-begins. We are there to make sure students learn the best way they can, so they can get a better education in life and learn the best way that will be able to fit them.
