The Beach Essay

The sea is the abode of extreme paradoxes. Grave silence and roaring tempests, terrible darkness and glitzy colors, lovely reviving life and fearful surrendering deaths, solemnity and boisterousness, good fortunes and misfortunes, an inspiration to write sonnets or elegies – you will find all these around the sea.

I feel the gentle hot sand beneath my bare feet the tips of shells peek from the holes in the sand. The ocean….. I look over to see Allie sitting in her purple beach chair and i began to walk over across the sand. I haven't been to Willow cove beach since I was 3 when my mom was drinking all night at the beach bar and left me until someone called the cops at 2 in the morning to pick me up. So now I usually go surfing at Clearwater beach instead.

Growing up in Southern California, I was surrounded by coastal culture, which has influenced me in many ways. No matter whether I lived in San Diego or Ventura county, I was never more than ten minutes away from the beach. Every weekend, it seemed, my dad would take us to the beach as family so we could play in the water, build sandcastles, catch hermit crabs, see the tide pools, and most of all, spend time together. I was enchanted by all the beach had to offer. Every sandcastle built was a palace for a hermit crab and every tide pool a thriving community. Whenever I stepped into the water, my imagination would run wild. Despite how often we went, I always enjoyed our days at the beach.

As soon as we got to the beach I could smell the fresh water and feel the wet sand under my toes. I could hear the sound of waves hitting against each other. As soon as we reached the sandy beach, we changed into our swimsuits, quickly ran to the water and swam our afternoon away. Eventually, Montrose Ave Beach

I first encountered the ocean in 1958; I was ten. Being a map enthusiast, I knew exactly where Florida was, and I was excited to swim in the salty Atlantic Ocean. Born and raised next to frigid Lake Michigan I understood a large body of water as well as a sandy beach, but no book or encyclopedia prepared me for understanding the flavor or immensity of an ocean and its adjoining shore. Arriving at the beach I raced across the hot pure white sand to keep my feet from burning, stopping in wonder when I saw ocean waves gently caressing a seashore that seemed to go on and on forever. I knew I was somewhere special.

You look around and all you see is mother nature's finest. The beach is where people go to have fun and that’s why I go to this one special beach, because you get a little of everything there. You get wild life, the ocean, and pure silence. The only thing you can hear is the ocean waves crashing onto the beach, reminds me of Niagara falls. Its breathtaking. And everything is clean. No trash laying around at all. Nothing.

After traveling for 3-hours, my family arrived at our beach house in Ocean City Maryland. After making a quick trip for groceries, we decided to go to bed and set alarm clocks for early in the morning. After a good nights sleep, I woke up to the pleasant smell of bacon and eggs. After feasting on a delightful breakfast, my brothers and I began to get ready for the beach. We went down the creaky wooden stairs of our beach house and unlocked the storage room located beneath the home. I decided to carry both of the floral umbrellas while my brothers took the portable beach chairs. After grabbing all of our gear, we headed back up the weathered stairs and towards the distant sand dunes. As we approached the entrance of the sand dunes, the satisfying sounds of the ocean's waves started to become closer and closer. Here lies the area where the rising blue sea crashes on to a shore surrounded by huge, wave-worn rocks. Where the sun shines through the skies and radiates the skin of inhabitants who are admiring the beauty of nature. The limestone shoreline fights back by pushing the water back out and creating a enormous splash accompanied by the effect of ocean spray. Some people come here to go snorkeling and explore a whole new world underneath the water, while others come to enjoy the scenic views and are accompanied by loved ones to walk down the vast amount of nature trails. However to me, this is a place where I am allowed to ponder and be away from the noisiness of city life. At Blow Rocks Preserve Beach, I walk along the beach and am instanly relieved

I run into the water and tumble into the waves. I feel them strongly hitting against me,I see my sister riding against the rough waves. I taste the salty sea water I got itchy sand all over I stood up just to be knocked back over.

The sound of the crashing waves surrounding me, and my family yelling "Run Lauren!" filled the air as I stood in awe of this wave heading straight toward me. My family decided to take a trip to Los Angeles, California to visit family, and the popular landmarks the state holds. I was excited to visit the beach because I had never encountered the ocean or the tropical climate before. I had never seen the ocean before so my excitement to go to the beach overflowed. While we were in California we had the opportunity to visit the beach but due to a tight time schedule, we did not have the opportunity to spend much time at the beach. The waves end at my ankles and the water and sand rushing through my toes feel great. I shiver and shiver until I finally get used to the water. I make my way farther out to where I'm leveled off to my waist. Quick breathe, then dunk under. I quickly pull my soaked head of the salty sea and comb my hair back with my wrinkled fingers. My sun kissed face makes my freckles pop when you could never see them. To be safe, I slowly get out of the salty wetland and make my way under the colorful umbrella my mom set up when I was away from them, enjoying the water.

The constant wind brushing my face was a clear indication of how fast we were going. The boat sliced through wave after wave like a giant surfboard. Gold tendrils of hair whipped around my head, refusing to be tamed. As we neared the dive site, we all started suiting up and strapping on our gear. The ocean strokes land with calm and reassuring hands, lacing water with sand and lifting seashells in its wake. My heart urges me forward, to walk among the peace, to capture the sweet smell of sea salt. My brain reasons with the rest of my body. Turning sharply from the churning water I force my feet to leave the warm imprint they have grown to love

The sun’s rays glisten across the water as my family and I lie on the golden sands of the beach to relax. Seagulls and other families are scattered around us along the length of the beach. My mom, my sister, and I lie next to each other, listening to the waves crashing against the ocean bank.
