Batman contradicts his morals while he is fighting the mutant leader and when he is about to shoot him he stops himself with “though that means crossing a line I drew for myself thirty years ago”. While Batman did not kill the mutant leader, earlier on Batman shoots a mutant grunt with a machine gun and faded blood is splattered behind the criminal holding a baby captive (Miller, 64). Later on in the novel Batman says to the joker “a gun is a coward’s weapon, a liars weapon” (Miller, 149). Batman has power to stick to his morals, to take on the evil of Gotham City, and to make the decision to deliver justice no matter whose side of the law he is. However, in the novel he has clearly stated that killing someone crosses his morals and that he despises guns yet he uses them to kill criminals. Batman crosses his golden rule of not killing criminals and shows that he will go above his own moral code of justice.
The film begins with Bruce Wayne, Batman, recalling his parent’s murder. We are introduced to an older dark Batman who brands and kills criminals. Throughout the film, we are reminded of the destruction that superman has caused in Metropolis when he indirectly destroyed the city. Lex Luthor takes advantage of the situation by manipulating Batman to hate Superman (Clark Kent), and capturing Superman's mother forcing the heroes to fight each other. Furthermore, the character Bruce Wayne, in Batman v Superman (BVS), illustrates a clear example of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) because of evidence of flashbacks, impulsive behavior and his inability to sleep.
Batman sees the destruction of Superman and Zod who happened to have the same powers as Superman because they were from the same planet, Krypton. Then Superman acknowledges that Batman has a brutal kind of justice and wants to get him through his work at the news network, Daily Planet. I also found connections to their progressions in the film. Bruce starts off wanting to kill Clark, and along the way he finds Wonder Woman, according to the end of the movie, Bruce realizes that Superman is good for humanity because he sacrificed his life by killing the mutant. In turn, Superman comes to Batman’s aid because he saved his mother from Lex Luther. Both characters have arisen to be friends, and understand that they both need each other. Extra elements from the journey is the fact that the object that was almost used to kill Clark by Bruce’s hand is the object found by Lois to destroy the mutant and sadly Superman. Through this scene we recognize that there are two katabasis’, one is the fight scene where Superman is almost killed by the bat, and the other is when they both fight the mutant together.

Despite what comic books, television, and movies may have you believe, the hero is not a new concept to this world. From the ancient times of Hercules, to the modern blockbuster movies of this very summer, the hero has always been a part of human existence. However, every hero will travel through the same life-changing journey regardless of their orientation. This journey comprises of three multi-step stages that are named “departure,” “initiation,” and “return.” The film A Knight’s Tale is such a heroic story, and has a great emphasis of a hero’s journey.
At the end of Bruce’s stay at the temple he is required to execute a criminal and then lead a group of men against the people of Gotham, his home city. Batman is introduced as the child, Bruce Wayne, son to Thomas and Martha Wayne. While returning home from a theater performance the Wayne family is approached at gunpoint. However, there is a list of traumas behind him as well. Alfred kills off the Shaman responsible for brainwashing Bruce, an action which will impact both Alfred and Bruce.
It is in The Pit that we see Bruce rise from the darkness from where he has been sent as a crippled, lost man & return as a courageous, strong warrior. As Alfred quotes during the film “But sometimes, a man rises from the darkness. Sometimes…the pit sends something back.” This is a key quote in the film as it foreshadows Bruce’s exile, but also his return to & from The Pit. Whilst he was imprisoned in the pit Bruce faced many challenges, both physically & mentally. His body was broken & destroyed by the man he was trying to defeat. His courage was also shattered by Bane & his confidence was amiss. It seemed like he had been cast into the abyss of The Pit forever, sent there to live out his life & wait for death to greet him. This seemed like the only future for Bruce, until he views a news bulletin from Gotham, which showed Bane taking over the city. Bruce has now discovered the will to live & his motivation again. But he was missing something, the fear that every man & woman must have. The fear of death. As the blind prisoner explains to Bruce “How can you move faster than possible? Fight longer than possible? If not from the most powerful impulse of the spirit. The fear of death. The will to survive.” Bruce now realises that he needs to make the climb out of the pit,
“We’re going after Turk,” said Bruce. “YESSS!” yelled Blake as she ran to get changed. Literally, two seconds later, Blake came out in her outfit. Bruce changed into his costume known as Batman and Blake changed into her outfit known as Nightwing. Bruce Wayne became the Batman because someone murdered his parents and that person was never brought to justice. Blake Wayne is a greek goddess named Athena and a demon named Raven, and when she found out that her father Bruce Wayne was the Batman she became Robin and know is known as Nightwing. “Why don’t we just let Dick in on this?” asked Nightwing as she started to fly around the Batcave. “Because he doesn’t know about you and me being who we are, said Bruce. “I know that, but Turk killed Dick’s parents in front of him, he’s going to figure out who we are, and I think that Dick should get to do something to Turk,” said Nightwing landing from flying. “So he might find out, but we can’t let him in on this,” said Batman walking towards the computer. Nightwing started to run around in circles until she generated an air tornado. “Will you stop that?!” said Batman as he pulled out a bag with a grey stick
Seen in current Batman films are Batman’s fighting techniques and master detective skills which all come from his years of training himself to be the ultimate weapon against crime in Gotham. Bruce Wayne was first driven by revenge against his parents murderer but, denied his revenge, he made a self pledge to restore the broken down city of Gotham.
Bruce Wayne was only but a child when he watched helplessly as his parents were gunned down in front of him during a mugging in Gotham City. This crime would come to define his life. To the public, he would excel and succeed his father and become the heir and millionaire of the Wayne corporation. In secret, he would dedicate himself to becoming one of the world’s greatest weapons against crime—the Batman.
Batman's a whole other story. The filmmakers have worked out the mask problems from the previous film; Bale fills the suit with grace and danger. His voice is disguised as well - it's now a bass-heavy synthesized whisper. The character seems more than ever an extension of his high-tech toys (like the neat-o Bat-scooter that pops out of the Batmobile at one point, ecstatically rearing up like the Lone Ranger's Silver). He represents a citizen's darkest urges, though, and it eats at him. He's Dirty Harry crossed with Hamlet.
