The ability to succeed for any business or organization relies heavily on the abilities of the manager. He sought education at Saint John’s University for two years, pursuing a math degree. He then eventually transferred to Mankato State University, which was his hometown. At the time Karl was transferring, construction management was a new subject at Mankato State and he decided to give it a try. Using his previous experiences as a carpenter and internships, and his newly found degree in construction management Karl set out into the real world construction industry. Initially he took a project management job at Langer Construction before being recruited to Tarraf in later years. Managers today have many different options when choosing a managerial theory to implement for their organizations. Knowledgeable managers must be aware of the different historical approaches and also able to determine which approach would be most effective for their unit. The established work structure of my unit currently utilizes elements of classical organizational theory, more specifically scientific management and bureaucratic theory. More recent theories, such as those that focus on human relations, are not applied as frequently. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the historical management theories utilized by my organization and determine whether they are appropriate. When areas in which my organization could be improved upon are identified, the recommendations of other management theories are considered for their possible effectiveness.

In the field of management a person must manage a certain number of employees, and the optimal number is between 5 and 7 persons. These employees come from all different walks of life and each one of them has a different perspective on life and especially work. Some of these employees may have a positive attitude and are able to accomplish their work without being directed. Therefore, these type of employees would fall under theory y. On the other hand, employees that express more of a negative attitude toward work and accomplishing goals on their own are theory x employees. These two theories of employees are what managers need to focus on because these two very different types of employees need to be managed in very different ways.
The company I decided to write my final project on for Management Theories and Practices is Google. According to Google, the company was founded on September 4, 1998 by Sergey Brin & Larry Page. They founded the company in Menlo Park, California. The two founders were only college students at the time, pursuing PhDs in Computer Science. ("Management team," 2015.). Neither of them finished their degrees. Yet from there, the company took off. If you take a look at Alexa.com you 'll see that it monitors the popularity of websites on the internet and Google is number 1. That means Google is the most visited website in the entire world ("Top sites," 2015.). The paper I am writing today will be taking a closer look at the famous company itself, and the employees within keeping it running.
