The Giver teaches us that love is essential to life. Jonas and the Giver demonstrate again and again how important it is, even though it’s forbidden. The Giver demonstrates love when he declares, “‘I love you Jonas’ he said. ‘But I have another place to go. When my work here is done, I want to be with my daughter’”(202). Winning doesnt show someones true character, what you do after the loss is what defines someone. Jonas faced many conflicts and what he did afterward is what showed us, the readers who he really was. After the problems jonas became a more angry with the society, rebellious, and smart person who who cared about the rest and wanted to make a difference and help the community be a better place without the people as much as they were.

Ned, from Code Talker and Jonas from The Giver, are two unique characters. Although they lived in hugely different societies there many similarities can be drawn between the two. There are obvious differences between Ned and Jonas. For example, Ned and Jonas lived in completely different societies with extremely different cultures. Jonas’ home was very orderly and peaceful, whereas Ned’s gave free will and was experiencing a time of war.

Jonas is confused because he doesn’t understand why his friends, and family, are okay with living like clones.

Jonas still has many different changes that continues as the story goes on. Based on what I read, " Then she went on. Jonas has been selected. " I belive that the community was probably all confused because everyone else was assigned, and they chose Jonas. Also, "...; and the Chief Elders' eyes were now on one who sat in the midst but seemed oddy seperate from them."

They both have secrets that could cause serious consequences if they tell anyone. Caitlin from “dreamland” and Jonas from “The Giver” have similarities and differences. Jonas and Caitlin are similar because they both want to be different from everyone else. For example, Caitlin does not want to live in her sister's shadow and wants to be known as her own person. I can relate her to Jonas when he does not want to live in the Community's shadow because he does not think what they are doing is right.

The past has been a horrible place, and the present is not any better. Imagine how different our world would be if our societies could change something about the past. Although we are not able to edit the past like a written story, we can learn about it. By studying our past, we can learn how to create a better future. Think back to social studies and history classes during school.

Their worlds were totally dissimilar makes their personalities very different as well. For example, Jonas and Caitlin have quite different personas. Jonas is sensitive and extremely intelligent. Jonas turning in twelve in the beginning of The Giver can hint at him being less mature.

Jonas saw people dying and shooting at each other in hate and saw all of the explosions that caused fires and everything was hectic. Jonas did not like that memory at all because he had never heard of or experienced such a tragedy and hardship before because of the Community. The Community kept every type of feeling there was away from everyone, the good and the bad. Although some people may think that it is good to take away all of the bad memories, I don’t think so because if taking away all of the bad memories means taking away the good memories too then I’ll take bad memories along with the good ones because the good memories are things that no one should ever want to forget because they are key moments too when they were happy, the best moments of their

Jonas, a 12 year old boy, who is the main character as well as the protagonist as well as the developing character in the story The Giver. At the December Ceremony he was selected as receiver of memory which allows him to be capable of knowing about memories. The Giver is an older man who is the confidante in the story and holds all the memories of the world. He also gives the memories to Jonas hence the name The Giver. Fiona and Asher are Jonas’s best friends, they are the static characters in the story.

I will really like to talk about the character “Giver” because I found him the most interesting character in the book. The Giver is the person who is responsible of keeping all the community’s memories and pass them on to the next receiver. In the book he’s an old man who is very wise and gentle, but haunted by the memories of suffering and pain. He didn’t do anything except giving memories to Jonas, and letting him know more about the community. But since the Giver was definitely clever, he already realized the dangerous truth of the community, but he couldn’t do anything before Jonas became the receiver.
