Joanne “Jo” or “J.K” Rowling was born on July 31, 1965 in Yate, England to Anne and Peter Rowling. She had a younger sister Diane who was born a year and 11 months after Joanne. In general, she lived a very happy childhood, but got teased because of her last name. Kids were tend to call her “ Rowling Pin”, so she was never fond of her own last name. At a very young age, Rowling became interested in writing, and often would write in her free time. Her attempts weren’t very successful though. When she was six years old, she wrote a story and asked her mother to get it published. Her mother never got it published, but despite what happened, Joanne’s good friend, Sean, always gave her strength and courage.
Harry Potter is a fictional character invented by J.K Rowling in the series of seven books starting with Harry Potter and the Philosopher 's Stone and ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Wikipedia, 2015). Harry is the main character in this series whose parents died when he was young and he was brought up by his aunt and uncle (Philosopher’s Stone, 1997, p.5). Harry was neglected by his aunt and uncle (Philosopher’s Stone, 1997, p.27). Harry is presented a whole new reality when he goes to the zoo one day and his integration into the magical world changes him from the foundation. These changes within him will be analysed using the developmental psychology theories of Lawrence Kohlberg and Erik Erikson to explain how the environment aided or obstructed Harry’s development.
Harry Potter is a fascinating tale of sorcerers, wands, broomsticks, dragons, and magic. The story begins with a young boy named Harry Potter who lives at number four Privit Drive, Surray, England. Harry learns of his past and his future as a wizard from Hagrid, the keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He travels to Hogwarts where he learns spells and enchantments, makes new friends, finds enemies, and discovers fantastic secretes. J.K. Rowling weaves a web of impeccable storytelling with this critically acclaimed novel. In the tale of Harry Potter imagery, symbolism, and motif take central focus.

From Julius Caesar’s twenty three stab wounds to Gatsby’s disloyal love, the importance of the cruel act of betrayal in literature has long been discussed. Perhaps less historically, betrayal has also appeared in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, as two terrible wars redefine values and loyalty within the wizarding community. However, betrayal also shows itself in acts of love and bravery in Rowling’s beloved series. In the Harry Potter books betrayals are used to reveal truths about characters, represent development, and uphold the belief held within all seven of the books: that we are defined by the choices that we make.
Yet, this summer is even more unusual for Harry Potter than he’d expect. When his cousin makes fun of him, the two of them get surrounded by a group of dementors, dangerous and powerful creatures. Which decide to attack Harry and his freaked out cousin. This is strange, as they’re supposed to guard the most evil prison in the Wizarding World, Azkaban.
Entering my freshman year of high school, I was armed for combat. The whole summer I had been glued to my new Twitter account, reading up on the news and becoming "worldly." Raised in a Catholic household and school, I know biblical history better than my own family tree. All of my friends and teachers were Catholic, and the most sacrilegious book I had ever read was Harry Potter. Online, everyone portrayed the Catholic Church as brutal bigots. I knew I didn't want to be portrayed as a close-minded, and in addition to my strong desire to give my life a tangible purpose, I took action. My voice would shake and my eyes remained glued to the teacher to avoid looking at other students because I knew their stares would be full of shock. In order to combat the new reactions, I researched my arguments extensively.

Although Joanne Rowling is considered to be one of the most successful authors in the industry, she had many obstacles to go through in order to achieve success. Joanne Rowling was born on July, 31st, 1965 in Yate England. During her elementary school years, Joanne Rowling was always interested in reading and writing stories and got influenced from her family to start reading. After graduating Exeter University, she married Jorge Arantes, a Portuguese journalist, and had a daughter named Jessica. When Harry arrived at the hospital it was too late. His father had tragically died to a seizure. Harry’s heart sank. All the things that he never got to say to his father, now he’ll never get the chance. Harry had so much to say, It would take him hours. Now Harry can never tell his father what he wanted to. Harry wanted to get out of there. He sprinted out of there wailing for everyone to hear. Harry after a while ended up back at the shop. This was the quietest and loneliest it has ever been. Harry walked over to the counter. It hadn’t changed at all. “Where’s Harry” the bird mocked him, “Miss him.” Harry realized what he had done and so he decided to start running the shop, but every day after school he opened of the bird mocked him and
Joanne suffered from clinical depression and contemplated about suicide. This was due to the abrupt change of her lifestyle and the associated demands for charity funding and other business prospects, after the success of “Harry Potter”. To surmount this mental illness, Joanne decided to take cognitive behavioural therapy sessions for nine months (she had previously taken these therapies when she was writing her first novel for the “Harry Potter” series). After taking cognitive behavioral therapies for nine months, Joanne successfully overcame her mental illnesses and the associated negative stigma without humiliation, as she said, “I have never been remotely ashamed of having been depressed. Never. What’s there to be ashamed of? I went through
The author behind this controversial narrative has become one of the world’s most decorated authors due to the widespread success of her novels. Although she is well-known today, Rowling had very humble beginnings. Born on July 31, 1965 to Peter and Anne Rowling, Joanne became the newest addition to her family beside her older sister, Diana. During her childhood, Rowling lived in several different places throughout Great Britain. Her family moved from Chipping Sodbury to Winterbourne, and then again to Tutshill (“J.K. Rowling”).

Yael remarks this quote as she received Ben Simon’s prized dagger. Hoffman uses this quote to build suspense and foreshadows that Yael’s relationship with Ben Simon is coming to an end. However, this passage does not only apply to the situation at hand but also reminds the reader of Yael’s cursed birth. Her birth “marked [the] beginning” of her life but simultaneously “signif[ied]” the end of her mother’s. Comparably, in the popular novel, Harry Potter, J. K. Rowling also explores this idea. The gift of love protected Harry to begin his life while it ended his parents’ lives as they stood in the way of Voldemort. The contrasting idea between “beginning” and “ending” is also used effectively to evoke thought in readers as we ponder the real difference between two terms. An interest connection that rises from this comparison is found within religion where
The movie adaptation of J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a very pivotal movie in the series. Like the book, this movie is crucial in setting up an understanding for the rest of the series. Therefore it is important that the movie complements the novel as much as possible. Using one of the most essential features of a movie; visual imagery, the movie adaptation of the fourth novel is a good accompaniment for the novel. The visual imagery in this movie emphasizes emotions and reactions that we cannot possibly obtain from the book. For example, the death of Cedric Diggory at the end of the movie strikes a powerful emotional response as a result of his father, Amos Diggory’s grief. Seeing him cry makes the audience more
