The Importance Of College Life

The College Board is a non-profit organization composed of more than 5,900 schools, colleges, universities and other educational programs. College Board provides widely-known resources, tools and services to students, parents, and colleges on topics such as college prep, admissions, and financial aid. How College Shapes Lives is based off information found in the report, Education Pays 2013: The Benefits of Higher Education for Individuals and Society. This report is an in-depth database describing the difference in earnings, lifestyles, and behavior patterns that correlate to a person’s higher education level. How College Shapes Lives further examines how an individual can benefit from higher education and how society as a whole benefits from it. How College Shapes Lives was written by Sandy Baum, Charles Kurose and Jennifer Ma.

The decision of whether or not to attend college can be difficult, especially given the tremendous costs associated with tuition, books, and campus living. Moreover, getting a good job or earning an attractive income is not necessarily guaranteed with a college degree. The decision of whether or not to attend college must come from within, and must transcend thoughts about money. For me, going to college represents a genuine personal feat. There are three main reasons why college education is important to me. First, I would be the first person in my generation to receive a higher education. My going to college therefore represents a new precedent in my family. Second, I love learning and want the opportunity to expand my personal and academic horizons. Third, the career path I have embarked on is one that requires a college education in order to succeed. Therefore, a college education is important to me because of personal and professional reasons.

College is truely worth the cost I have found yes, it is a necessity in the growing information economy of the US .This is because financial Aid is high and the reward is higher than ever, college graduates recently working full time made 83 percent more than people with only high school diplomas.

When first reading this article it made me really think, “Why is college so important?”. Then I thought about all the benefits. The author in this article discusses how successful you can be without going to college. She is forgetting the reason college is so important and why so many people get a college education. This article makes a lot of points but leaves out a lot more. I agree with the author on the idea of college is not for everyone. It all depends on the person and what career field you are going in to.

Most college students will have a plan to get ready for college. There are several steps in getting ready for college. For example, you will have to rank your priorities, focus on getting to the finish line and lastly research the departments that they have. A case in point is some high school seniors may not have their mind right on an institute. College for some people may be just to get away from their family, or it might be to make something out of themselves. Going to college can be a breeze for some human beings, but others it can be a wakeup call. Illustrating all these steps for choosing your right career college path can have you going crazy, but it will be all worth it at the end of the journey.

Going through college I have really learned to appreciate what my high school teachers really did for me. They gave me the neccesary skills to succeed in the next level. College has been nothing like I could imagine. The workload has remained the same, but a lot of things have changed. There are a huge lack of social interactions with othere students. And the teacher to student interaction is minuscule. I believe my current history teacher could learn a thing or two from my previous history teacher about how to produce a productive and just already fun place to learn.

There are several arguments that arise when it comes to the topic of how college impacts our lives. Many people believe that it is a waste of time and others think it may help them get further in life. While both arguments have pros and cons supporting their views, going to school doesn't mean you will advance more than others in life.

Looking back throughout my life, I have been through many obstacles changing my views on success. The death of my parents at a young age significantly altered my outlook. I’ve learned that life doesn't always go as planned, but it is up to yourself to make something out of your hardships.

High school seniors have many choices to make. One important choice is whether or not to go to college. Harvard as the first college founded in 1636. At this point only 4% of young people attended college (Anderberg, Jeremy. “Is College for Everyone?). As of 2013 there are about 14 million students enrolled in a 4 year institutions, and that number is expected to jump to around 20 million in the next few years (Anderberg, Jeremy. “Is College for Everyone?). College is hard and is not for everybody, but is it worth it? A college education is worth it in many ways it will lead you to success, way easier than a high school diploma. A college education gets you better financial success, gives you a much healthier life and greater success, and college graduates have more and better employment opportunities.

College. It is the seven-letter word that almost every child will hear thousands of times while they are growing up. They constantly are bombarded by the idea that they must go to college if they want to be successful. However, what if this is a false statement. What if college isn’t as great as everyone makes it out to seem. Well, these days some people believe that young people are better off, not going to college. Over the years the economy around the world has changed. It has prospered, and it has fallen. As the economy went downhill the government began cutting funds in areas that they felt were necessary to exterminate. One of the largest areas of funding that was cut was education. A second reason college is important is because people learn discipline. Some people come into college with no discipline what so ever. Therefore, by time leave they would understand the concept.

From the time students enter high school they are conditioned to believe the only good educational option for successful people is a college or university. Regrettably, many families are unprepared or unable to send their child to a four-year college or university. Compounded by societal use of media, testing, and advising, students are led to believe a college education resulting in a degree is necessary for employment and success.

College is an important phase in a student’s life. It is second chapter of their education, yet the beginning chapter of their adulthood. College is perceived to be an exciting experience for young adults, however it does come with a price. Many parents in America are unable to afford an education for their children. Students may choose to attend a junior college, for it is less expensive than a four-year school. However, it is still a bit on the pricy end and parents are forced to use loans to pay for school. There should be other methods for students to get their education without any price. Community colleges in America should be free to all qualified students.

Being a college student is often stressful and overwhelming a vast majority of the time. Sometimes, the best remedy is to find a comfortable space to release all of the nerves. There are very few spaces where one can accomplish a multitude of things, from studying to clearing your mind to a good napping place. The Honor Court located inside of the Arboretum is the perfect place for all of those things. This place is unique on its own accord; it’s a natural structure of rock but it is taken and transformed by man into fountains, benches, and a beautiful gazebo with leaves covering it giving such a naturally comforting feel. When sitting there, an abundance of sounds can be heard, from the birds chirping and people walking around going about their lives solitarily and yet all together. At all times of the day, the sun can be felt beating down with its rays radiating off of the waterfall creating shadows through the leaves. This is the perfect place to go to occupy one’s own thoughts while taking in all that the university has to offer. Surrounded by nature and the older buildings of campus, The Honor Court is an unequaled place to go for the solitude of your own companionship but not closing off from the rest of the world; the perfect way to detach yourself from the problems of the outside but allowing yourself to not completely withdraw from it and the only space that each person can transform entirely to their own specifications.
