Many people have lost their lives on the road and caused other’s deaths because they were distracted with doing something while driving. In 2012, 3,328 people were killed in distraction-related crashes (“Statistics on Texting & Cell Phone Use While Driving” n.d.). Distractions while driving that result in these accidents include texting/making a call or becoming intoxicated and having high blood alcohol concentration. Many laws have been brought forth to help regulate the amount of people drinking while driving and using a cell phone while driving. Not only do people put their own lives in danger, they are also putting other’s lives in danger. People who take part in these distractions are not being responsible when making these rash decisions while driving and creating a hazardous environment for those around them.

After reading “Driving While Stupid,” by Dave Barry, he tells us about some of his experience with seeing bad drivers. Barry uses many old experiences while being in Miami, China, Boston, and Argentina. I agree with this statement because in almost every city I been in the driving was terrible. Everyone, in some way or another, has witnessed people drive very stupid and reckless. Barry indicated that some drivers use insane driving techniques. These include driving very fast, failure of the utilization of headlights at night, and having distractions for the view of the drivers. He says that the drivers do not have a sequence for navigation since some are involved in phone calls, eating, reading, changing CDs, crowd surface makeup, etc. This is a common thing for teens and even adults to be distracted behind the wheel. He drove through various cities where the traffic laws are constantly being violated. For example, has only one traffic law, which is “No driver may ever be behind any other driver.” In his opinion, Miami drivers are the worst drivers that he has ever witness because of the guy who was driving on 1-95. He was watching videos on his phone and was clearly not paying attention to the road or any other drivers. This does not only affect him but also the other people around him. He was not be cautious of the road and putting his and others lives in danger.

One of the biggest rites of passages in the United States at the age of 16 is obtaining a driver’s license. The freedom to roam the open road and explore the world around you in most cases is a joyous occasion. At 16, a young inexperienced driver is constantly conveyed that driving is a privilege and one must use caution or that privilege will be taken away. However, over the past few years one of the growing problems in United States not only affects young drivers but drivers of all ages. Distracted driving is a growing problem in the United States that affects not only people of all ages but race, and gender as well.

More and more people are dying from those crucial disgusting accidents. People should understand that those crucial habits should not be tolerated and it cannot be done. Hopefully, this has been persuasive enough so that you don’t need to kill innocent people and you do not need to live with a miserable life. Driving is fun, but killing people is not. First of all, I believe we have too many drivers and not a perfect enough system to tell our drivers how fast to go. It’s a scary thought that we trust people we don’t even know to be sober and level headed enough to share the road with a car full of young children. We need to manage how fast our drivers are actually going to make us safer.

Distractive driving is something that happens every day. Not always does it get people into trouble but that is only because they were lucky that time. Distractive driving can become very dangerous and even fatal. If you ask someone what they focus on when you are driving most people are going to say the road. Today in our world, technology is running our generation. People are using their phones in the wrong areas, they were not made to be distractions and cause wrecks to be taken. A lot of people today do not realize is about 40 percent of the wrecks that occur in the world have to do with taking their eyes off of the road for too long. In America today, it is almost impossible to function in life without being able to drive. Driving for most teens is important because the teens always want to go go go. The parents don’t have time to take them places such as: to work, school, or to hang out with friends. Most teens get their license at 16, and after that they think they can do what they want on the roads. Teens have such little experience on the roads, and they need all the practice before taking on the roads. Teen drivers have a history of being unsafe drivers, so precautions have been made to limit wrecks caused by them.

However, it is commonly defined as a societal condition where motorists lose their temper in reaction to a traffic disturbance etc. In most cases, the traffic situations encountered are typical of today's normal driving conditions and higher traffic volumes. "Aggressive driving" refers to an angry motorist attempting to intentionally injure or kill another driver because of a traffic dispute. Aggressive drivers react negatively and uses their vehicles to retaliate by making sudden, threatening maneuvers. This makes "road rage" a serious issue of traffic safety - the safety of yourself and others.

It is a term that is based upon the actions and thoughts of others that are clearly expressed. It is good to express your opinion, though sometimes it isn’t very convenient in certain circumstances. Road rage could be caused by multiple factors. I believe it has to do with something siding more with psychological terms. Your temper is a psychologic factor and has a great deal in these situations. Patience is also a factor that should be just as equal. However temper and patience test each other in these outbursts of emotion. This could be caused by distractions, stress, or even an illness. You should always be aware of your surroundings and use your words, gestures, and actions cautiously when approaching someone else. A car isn’t invincible so don’t think it will protect you through everything. They may be having a bad day, or they could be understanding. If we could come together and help each other with these “distractions”, maybe just a simple nod of the head, or a wave to let you by. It would most definitely ease the tensions between the drivers that are sharing a road or parking lot. So next time you want to tailgate someone, think about it. Think about the consequences that you will face. It could be violent, it could injure someone else. It all comes down to your actions and the way you think the situation through. Distracted driving has many different factors, whether checking a text or app, eating, or driving too fast. Drivers 19-24 years old are 1.6 times more likely to read a text and twice as likely to send a text while driving. Over half have run a red light, and 12 percent have reported it’s okay to exceed the speed limit by 10 miles-per-hour (Radzievich). “Large majorities recognize the dangers of texting while driving, but we found disturbing differences in actual behavior based on age,” (Fatal Attraction). “Over 88 percent of drivers aged 19 to 24 have texted, run a red light, or exceed the speed limit”. Some distracted driving practices decrease with age and experience, but over 79% of drivers aged 25 to 39 previously have practiced bad driving habits.
