The New Zealand air travel industry in 2009 is estimated at $9.7 billion in revenue, with $5.9 billion from local activities and $3.8 billion from trade activities. There are more than 1,000 organizations contributing in the industry, engaging 23,525 workforce with salaries and wages estimated at $1.3 billion. Using input / output monetary modelling, the straight and secondary impacts of the New Zealand air travel industry together have been considered at 11.8% of total returns across the economy and 6.9% of GDP of the New Zealand in the year to December 2009.
