Analysis and Review: 'The Outsiders' by S.E. Hinton

The Outsiders was about the greasers and the Socs. The Socs always jump the greasers, one day Johnny fights back, he ends up killing Bob. Johnny and Ponyboy run away to a church and hide until Dally comes and gets them. They then see the church was burning, Ponyboy and Johnny run into it to save the kids inside. Johnny and Dally get injured, Ponyboy is okay. The greasers win the rumble, the Socs will stay out of the greasers territory, Johnny passes away from his injuries, Dally robs a store, the police shoot him, and he does not survive the shots. In the end Ponyboy decides to regather his life and he starts with writing his theme for his ELA class. The book The Outsiders book, the better version, was published in 1964 and written by S.E.

The other group, the socs, are basically the rich kids that get kicks out of jumping others because they don't have as much money as they do or do it out of jealousy. These are the kids that throw parties and take things that aren't theirs when they know they won't get into trouble by the police. The group that i think that has it harder off is the greasers.

Outsiders is a pretty good book compared to the other books i have read.The main plot of the story is about hoodlums trying to get through life in a society were rich do better, the main character is Ponyboy curtis a hoodlum who lives with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop. The main setting of the book is a neighborhood separated by social classes known as the Socs and the greaser,The socs are the rich kids from the east who are said to have no problems at all but in reality the do. Greasers, who were the poorer people of a town, are being constantly preyed upon by the rich kids, the Socs. The Socs are brutal, violent, and intimidating.

Then, when Johnny and Ponyboy saved some little kids from a burning church they are able to be excused from stabbing the Soc in the side. The Socs and the Greasers are not being as mean to each other anymore. After the fire and everything Darry has been being nicer to Ponyboy and wouldn’t be mean to him at all.Certainly, it could be said that the lesson from this novel is not to have divided communities and not have segregation. While this is a good point because there is certainly divided communities it fails to account for how much people need family. It was never meant to be this way but it did. This shows how bad it was in Tulsa, Oklahoma and why their was divided communities. After they saved the children everybody was happy mostly until Johnny died and then Dally also.
