My dad was a strict, overbearing father who thought it was necessary for his children to fear him in order to ensure respect. Everyone was affected by my dad's obsessive and controlling nature, and eventually my mom had had enough. Heartbroken after losing the love of his life, my dad was forced to recognize what he had become. This changed who he was as a person leaving me to be raised in two completely different environments.

Growing up, I had a lot of amazing people to look up to, including my father. He was my hero and was always encouraging me to push myself and try new things. Someone who is very influential to me is my film and television broadcast teacher Mrs. Katrina Allemeier. She was the main person who helped me figure out how much I love making films. I had randomly been placed into her beginning video production class, my sophomore year of high school, when the other elective classes for first semester had been filled up. Who is the most influential person in your life? Most of us would say our father, mother and maybe girlfriend or boyfriend. Mine would be no different. My father has this capacity or power of affecting me without any direct or apparent effort. The most influential person in my life beyond a shadow of a doubt is my father. There are a lot of people who said a perfect father does not exist. Well, they have never been so wrong. Maybe not all fathers in the world are perfect but mine definitely is. My father is an exceptional person. I love everything about my old man, the way he speaks, he behaves and they way he moves are beyond perfection in my eyes. I am immensely proud to have the chance to be his son, I felt like I am this small present of a great person he is. 5. My father holds the biggest impact in my life. You will hardly ever see him angry. He is a hard worker. He and my mother provide for the family. He takes extra shifts so we have money for “just in case”scenarios. My father when i think of a true dad, he will always pop up in my head. He is the stereotypical father. If something needs to get done he is the guy to go to. I can talk to him about anything. He has brought me up to be a gentleman. When my mother was having my sister I hardly saw my dad. Being young at the time i didn’t understand, but being older now, I now realize he worked everyday taking up extra hours so when my mom needed something the money would be there for her. Everytime I visited he always had stories to tell about my dad and what he was like as a child. My favorite story that he ever told me was about the time that he and my father went camping.

The one factor that has shaped me more than anything is my family; specifically my mother. My mom is the strongest person I know, and she has been through absolute hell, but despite that, she has remained a loving, caring, and helpful person. It is because of my mother that I have strived to have these same qualities if not more. After the death of her husband, the biological father of my siblings, my mother raised three children by herself. My father was never in my life and still isn’t to this day. I was five years old when my mom’s husband and the only father I ever knew was taken from us. While he was trying to protect his family; he was gunned down in a home invasion. To this day I can remember the look on my mother's face when she picked me up and with tears streaming down her face told me that my father had died. The next couple of days were a blur as she packed us up and moved us from Pennsylvania to Virginia and then again to North Carolina. Years later I asked her why she did this and she said she thought the best place for us would be around family. She didn’t move back to a family that she rarely got along with for her, but because she knew that after losing our father we had a hole in our life that could only be filled with the love that family can offer.
