As new teachers leave the world of the University for the world of teaching, they often do not fully understand what is expected of them. The roles and responsibilities of a teacher can be vague and hard to understand when a new teacher is unwilling to ask questions of a mentor teacher, or the mentor teacher is unwilling to aid the new student. As Cathrine Le Maistre states in her paper, titled “Mentoring Neophyte Teachers: Lessons Learned from Experience” there is a much higher level of attrition after the first year of teaching than in any other year (2000). She believes that new teachers should be taught how to use their own minds, and not simply be given “manila folder of notes” (La Maistre, 2000. p. 84) and be expected to follow

Teachers are constantly surrounded by assignments, that need to be graded, which means that they are constantly working even when they are not physically inside a classroom setting. Therefore, it is important for a teacher to have a strong worth ethic. When I interviewed the student’s one of the students said that a great teacher needs to be responsible. Responsibility plays a huge role, when it comes to being an efficient teacher. When I asked the student to elaborate on what he meant by responsibility he spoke about how teachers should respond to emails throughout the day. As Mr. Kelly mentioned, part of being a teacher means bringing work home.

Imagine what the world would be like without teachers? Teaching is a very tough job and it is nearly impossible to imagine our world without teachers in it. We are impacted every day by teachers, there wouldn’t be doctors, scientists, lawyers, etc. without them. Everyone has one teacher that they looked up to more than anyone else. There are many different types of teachers and each and every one of them plays a huge role in our lives. For example, history teachers help make sure that our past is not doomed to repeat itself by teaching us of our past mistakes. Every teacher contributes a piece to the puzzle. Teaching is an amazing job, however, there are many difficulties to being a teacher and not many people are willing to fill the shoes of these teachers.

All public school educators are held to very high standards of behavior because they are entrusted with the well-being of our children. The public expects for teachers’ behavior to exemplify ethical and moral integrity. Teachers serve as role models to our children they should be aware of the conduct they display both on and off the job. The conduct displayed can have a great impact on their professional image. When educators make poor judgment this can adversely impact students, damage teachers’ integrity and corrupt public trust in school systems and their profession. With the advances in technology and access to social media, the challenges have increased significantly for all educators. Educators must stay focused and develop a keen sense of awareness to a variety of problems and circumstances that they may encounter in their daily contact with students, families and the community. It is very important that teachers and administrators make moral decisions to ensure that their professional preparation meets the highest possible moral principles of conduct.

This paper will focus upon the roles, responsibilities and boundaries in planning, managing and delivering learning based around the teaching training cycle. This covers the application of learning styles to identify the differences of my learners. The issues of entitlement, equality, diversity and Inclusitivity will be addressed. It will also address the relevant legislation in my area of expertise and the importance of record keeping to maintain quality standards. The outline of scheme of work, lesson planning, methods used and resources available to meet the needs of my learners.

Initial assessment is an assessment that helps to identify and understand the needs of the learners. Assessors get information about the students’ choice in the assessment, and how and when does the assessor send them in the right point of referral to meet the student’s needs. For example, students may need specific assessment requirements, further training or different access/resources in learning environment. This assessment takes place before the programme or a lesson begins.
