Soccer and American Football Soccer, the most popular sport in the world, is called football in most countries. In America, “the world football refers to American football.” (Football vs Soccer, n.d). These two sports share the same goal: score more goals than your opponents to win the game. In soccer, “there is a net at each end of the field where the object of the game is to score a point by kicking the ball into your opponents’ goal” (Football vs Soccer, n.d). Football also shares this concept by having tow area on opposite sides of the field where one can score points by carrying the ball beyond the opponents’ goal line. Also, soccer and football both have eleven players on the field at a time, and both have the concept of having offense and defense. The first obvious similarity is that both the American football and soccer are team sports. Players in each team rely on team play and help their teammates to score on the opposing team. Both football and soccer have a field with rectangle shape. Not only the American football, but also soccer has some rules and regulations which are controlled by referees of the game. Both sports are played between two teams, and players of each team wear special uniforms to differ from each other. A final similarity is that both the American football and soccer have 11 players in each team. To sum up, the American football and soccer are two team sports with some differences and similarities. The two sports differ in many are such as the shape of the ball, the equipment which is used in these two sports, the way of passing the ball, and the size of the fields.
