He is taken to a shelter that his father has built underground. It has several bedrooms, a living room, and all the things necessary to live there for fifteen years. Imagine you 're in a silent dead house The only noise you hear is yourself breathing. You hear yourself breathing in and out as you walk around with everything off. You turned everything off and it feels like there 's dead body everywhere. Your kids are begging you to turn everything back on not wanting to leave the nursery. This is what happens in the book “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury is about the family and their kids have this room that is called the nursery. In the nursery the point is to travel where ever you want but you stay in the house you just see what is looks like. Their kids Wendy and Peter don 't use it for that reason. They only go to one place and one place only and that is Africa. One thing that happens in this book is that the kids are too obsessed with technology like the nursery which is to learn about other places and what they they look like and what it feels like, but that’s not what they do and things are getting out of control with them always visiting Africa.

In the novel, A Lesson Before Dying by _________, the main character, Grant, is trying to console Jefferson. Jefferson has just been framed for a murder he did not commit, and many believe it is because he is black. Two drunk, white men went into a liquor store, already drunk, and attempted to shoot the owner who, in turn, shot back. In the end of the firefight, Jefferson was the only man standing. When at the trial to convince the jury Jefferson did not actually shoot the people, his attorney realizes his attempts at proving Jefferson’s innocence were futile, and says, “What justice would there be to take this life? Justice, gentlemen? Why, I would just as soon put a hog in the electric chair as this” (8). He is asking the jury to spare the life of Jefferson, by implying that Jefferson is no more intelligent than a hog. The attorney is white, and is voicing the common belief among whites that all blacks are animals. Throughout the novel, Jefferson becomes haunted by the

George and Lydia will decide to call a psychologist. The psychologist David McClean will suggest them to turn off the room and the house, and leave. But before turning off the nursery the children asked their pa rents for one last nursery visit. After a few minutes the kids will call George and Lydia and when they will enter in the nursery to see what was happening the children will lock them in. It seems quite clear that the children are more connected to the house than they are their own parents. At this moment we understand that besides the African setting, George and Lydia find personal recreations of their belongings in the nursery.

The surroundings of a person plays an important role. A child grows up seeing his parents and easily learns the habits of his/ her parents. Through his short story “ The Veldt” Bradbury with the use of foreshadowing gives a vivid picture of how much the surroundings and the sudden changes can affect a child’s mind.

In addition, Bradbury utilizes the images of the brutal African veldt to help describe the ominous events that would eventually take place within. The nursery reenacts violence: “That sun. He could feel it on his neck, still, like a hot paw. And the lions. And the smell of blood.” This description of the nursery enhances all of the violence that takes place within. Bradbury establishes the nursery as a viperous environment. George and Lydia value their deluxe room even though it has some alarming abilities; their judgement becomes clouded due to the fact that they prized this certain possession so greatly. The disturbing visuals provided of the nursery contribute to the idea that something treacherous takes place within the room as a result

While living in the house, the happy family becomes distances from one another. As the parents realize, they took action and shut down the technology as "[...] Wendy and Peter thought [about] death thought's"(Bradbury 3). The technology in the house is being so excessively used that the house becomes the children's parents, Wendy and Peter symbolize evilness by wishing their parents were dead towards their parents after the technology was shut down. Later, the children break into the nursery and the technology shows a African veldt on the walls of the nursery. To get back at their parents, the children lock them inside the nursery; "[...]Mr. Hadley [looks] at his wife and [looks] back at the [lion] edging slowly forward crouching, tails stiff"(Bradbury 3). The author makes the reader become fearful by the loin symbolizing death because the parents are locked in a room with a vicious loin. I think the claim of the The Veldt is, that the children, Wendy and Peter, are to blame for their parent’s deaths. In the story The Veldt by Ray Bradbury, the parents, George and Lydia bought this house that does everything for them and their children. One other thing the parents did for their children was, they had a nursery put in. this nursery overtime turned into their parents because the kids were always in there.

I assume the parents didn’t know how threatening the nursery would become. They would’ve trusted their kids to only want to use it for a fun virtual reality experience, and they couldn’t have known that the technology would make their kids baneful. The first

Ray Bradbury uses an allusion to a well-known story, Peter Pan, to show the harms of relying on materialistic possessions. Bradbury says “you’ve got to tell Wendy and Peter to stop reading on Africa,” referring to the tale Peter Pan. In this tale, Peter, wants to live in immortal childhood, so he abandons his parents and takes Wendy with him. Wendy and Peter in “The Veldt” get so caught up in their virtual world, just like peter in his Neverland, the children begin to abandon their parents. Eventually the kids believe that they can survive without their parents, like perter pan and the lost boys felt, only now this Neverland is represented

In Up Front by Bill Mauldin one of the major themes is how important communication is during the war. Communication is a major factor when it comes to success in the war. Individual divisions need to be in contact with each other as well as family and friends at home. Bill Mauldin exemplifies this when he discusses the Stars and Stripes newspaper and 45th Division News in Up Front. Furthermore, a quote from the American General Dwight D. Eisenhauer and a propaganda picture produced by Winchester help support this theme. These three accounts together help show different aspects of communication in the war and how each is important. Although they all show different parts of communication for the war they all come together to show how it has changed the nature of American ideals.
