Should Abortions be Legal? Thesis Abortion is defined as intentional termination of a pregnancy after conception (O’Brien). Abortion is a very touchy subject that has been around for thousands of years. When emotions are used for reasoning this is called a fallacy. With this particular issue the fallacy “slippery slope” is very common in the persuasion of arguments (Moore, p 182). Slippery slope is when one thinks a simple action can lead to more complicated consequences in the future.

The procedures have become safer and better for all. Clinics have become more familiar to all the new products and the tools are more conformed to modern technology.
The current government is now pushing to make abortion easier for women. Since President Obama was elected the U.S. government has moved swiftly to allow the use of US taxpayers money to fund abortion groups all over the world by rescinding the Mexico City Policy first instituted in the 1980: to enable China’s coercive population control program by funding the united Nations Population Fund, and :to roll back restrictions on funding for human embryo-destroying stem cell experimentation.(Smith).

One of the nine reasons found that we should not legalize abortion is the laws against abortion kill women (Kilinger). Many women are killed each year during childbirth, but almost four times more women are killed when they have an abortion (Lowen). Women need to know the health risks involved with abortions before making that choice. Having an abortion has many long lasting effects such as: emotional disorders, blood infections, and an increase in breast cancer (Lowen). The leading causes of death for the women who had an abortion are infection, hemorrhage, bowel injuries, clotting disorders. If air was to get to the amniotic fluid, or fetal tissue to get into the woman’s blood stream they would die (Kilinger).Sometimes abortions are not effective, and
Late-term abortion is one of the most controversial topics ever discussed all around the world. It is an issue that will contradict with several religions and morals of society due to the different points of view. Though there are reasons to outlaw late-term abortion, there are also reasons to keep the right to have this type of abortions intact. Knowing that there is a countless amount of things that can go wrong during a pregnancy, the soon-to-be mother should have the right to consider other forms of options, in order to avoid causing herself more damage due to the state she’s in. The late term abortion right should remain legal due to many complications in the pregnancy, along with other health issues the mother might experience. There are many reasons why late term abortion would be the best choice in a case that puts the mother’s life and health in danger.
When touching the subject of abortion, one must consider that there are two sides battling for control. That is right, abortion has literally turned into a war zone where even the unlikely of individuals do the unthinkable. Each side has their motives and methods for contradicting the other. For instance, there are cases and events that support both sides of this issue.
Abortion is the termination of a human being in the womb; currently abortion is legal in Canada, USA, some parts of Europe and many more countries. Many people are against the legalization and many other are with the legalization, many believe that it should stay legal because they believe women should have control over their bodies and they know what is best for their life. There is also many people who are against the legalization of abortion and they believe it should be banned
For the last 17 years, the "Hyde Amendment" has banned the use of federal funds for almost all Medicaid abortions. The Hyde Amendment explicitly allows only two exceptions to this restriction: (1) when the life of the woman is endangered or (2) in cases of rape or incest. Since all of this was being approved we as a society thought that we could get rid of some of our social concerns. But it did the complete opposite here are some examples Illegitimate births were at a 10.7% in 1970 and in 1990 it raised to 26.2% in 1990,Children with Single Mothers in 1970 was11% in 1990 was 22%, Violent Crime Rate (per 100,000) in 1970 it was 36.4 2 and in 1990 it went up to a 73%, Teen Suicide Rate was 5.9% and in 1990 it dramatically increased to a 11.3% , and lastly Children on Welfare 8.5% and again that number managed to raise to a 11.9% according to (Catholic insight , May 2004 p28).
Abortion really today has been a very controversial issue in today’s society. An interesting claim within it is that abortion can be done safely through the use of medical abortion and although medical abortions can be safe and trustworthy as experts might say, there still are risks that women will have to face and eventually take after abortion. Major types of risks can be pelvic infections, blood clots in the uterus or maybe a torn cervix. These are just few out of many health problems caused from abortion.
How would you feel of your right to live was taken from you? Abortion does exactly that, it takes way the right of a child to live. The fetuses in their mother’s womb are killed and cannot do anything about it. Abortion should be illegal because it kills a potential living being, harms the women’s health, demean the value of life and erode responsibility.
The probability of a woman's death is 1/11,000 in abortions after 21 weeks. A mother is not only taking the life of an innocent child, but she is putting herself at risk. For instance, “Dangers and risks of...” Martin Mcatee discusses complications that third-term abortions also come with. There is a high risk of infection to the mother due to surgical instruments being introduced into the mother's uterus, and possible dead tissue of the fetus parts being left behind. Dead tissue left behind after the abortion can enter the mother's bloodstream and result in sepsis, a deadly blood disease. Therefore, abortions can harm both the mother and the fetus, and should not be an option for the
Imagine yourself as a 16 year-old girl or boy who made a mistake and ended up with an unwanted pregnancy. Would you want to go through with the pregnancy or would you want to have an abortion? You think that it will be easy and you can go on in life. Then your life starts to go down hill, you miss a lot of school, and can’t make it to work. You end up dropping out of school. This all would’ve been easier if you got an abortion. I support people who get abortion. People say it is killing a life when it is only a fetus that isn't developed all the way. Also women can do what they want to their own body, and Women will do what they want even if it is illegal or legal. They will do it regardless.
When it comes to abortion, fetus is the only aspect that is risked. According to the Abortion Statistics conducted by The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, “one percent of all abortions occur because of rape or incest, six percent of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and ninety-three
infection.” Instead of women aborting their unborn child they can put the newborn up for adoption and give them a loving and caring home. Additionally, as an example from a brochure by David C. Reardon, A major study of first pregnancy abortions found that 48% of women experienced abortion-related complications in later pregnancies. The health of many women and the life of many children are at risk there are ways where we can keep the child and mother healthy. If we make abortion
For a very long time, women have sought abortions to rid themselves of unwanted pregnancies. These procedures were conducted in unsterile, illegal facilities and the risk of infection and death was high resulting in the deaths of hundreds of women. In order to maintain the health of women, abortions were legalized in 1973 in Rowe Vs. Wade and women’s’ choice became a reality.

Abortion is a debatable question that has been argued over a long period of time. The controversy of abortion has caused or may cause deaths and several violent conflicts between, should abortion be legal or illegal. Abortion is one of the most common medical procedures performed worldwide also known as elective termination of pregnancy (History,2016). Abortion is the destruction of the fetus or unborn child while the child is still in the mother’s womb. This procedure can be done almost anyone from the mother herself to back alley, most common, abortion clinics. More than 40% of all women will end a pregnancy by abortion and remains common in the US. But the questions is should abortion be legal or illegal?
The medical considerations often rely on moral and ethical issues, but the health care problems that may occur with the woman or fetus should also be brought to discussion. For instance, some women may have mental problems that require administration of specific medications, which impair the fetus and jeopardize its future functioning and health. Another reason for induced abortions, even after the first trimester, may include fetal anomalies. As stated by Bryant, Grimes, Garrett, and
Abortion is the surgical termination of a pregnancy. How odd that people are able to define something, that is such a controversial issue, so easily. There are hundreds, thousands, and even millions of things to say about abortion. When it comes to abortion, I find myself thinking like a symbolic interactionist. Abortion is a personal social issue and it needs to be seen on a micro level first. Although abortion can also be seen on a macro level, seeing abortion on a micro level lets people see the different symbols of abortion. No social condition creates the same symbol. If abortion is seen on a macro level, all the myths and stereotypes of abortion seem more realistic. For example, some of those myths
