     Child Labor, refers to the economically active population under the age of fifteen years old, who are employed in various industries (Grootaert, 2). Recently, child labor has become a large topic of debate; however, in most cases, it is very unfavorable. The perception that globalization is leading towards the exploitation of children, is becoming an important problem for international business. In my opinion, child labor should be eradicated. It is not only harmful to the health of children, but it takes away their chance for an education, and simply takes away their childhood.

We can define child labor as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and cause to their physical and mental development. Developed countries can help end child labor not by punishing the countries that engage in the practice but by examining the reason why child labor is so widespread in these areas, and then providing assistance to help solve the underlying problems (walter andrew).

This practice have numerous occurrences all through history and is one of the worst forms of child exploitation, particularly, with during the industrial revolution. According to statistics provided by UNICEF, there are an estimated 250 million children aged 5 to 14 years employed in child labor worldwide and this figure is continuously increasing. Even with the standardized federal labor laws in effect in 1938 not a lot has changed. Child labor not only causes damage to a child’s physical and mental health but also keep him deprive them from their basic rights to education, childhood, and freedom. Child labor has very bad effects on the society that can result to consequences that can exploit the future generation.

Taking jobs away from child laborers is an unsuccessful way to make their lives better because this solution leaves them without money to buy food and other essentials. If child labor regulations were put into place, children would be treated appropriately in addition to being able afford necessities to survive. There are only specific jobs that children should be able to fill. Jobs involving machinery made for adults should not be used by children since it causes a safety hazard. Employers must be given restrictions when dealing with workers’ punishments. A maximum set of hours per that children should be allowed to work should be set in place, as well a minimum age of employment. Additionally, A decent minimum wage needs to be approved. Completely abolishing child labor can cause more damage than benefits, which is why regulations on child labor is a more suitable and superior
