1. Introduction

This report analyses some of the issues raised in the article which was published by The Sydney Morning Herald on 27/02/2015. The issues discussed in this article revolve around the current state of affairs affecting Australia nationwide. According to this article, unemployment in Australia has risen dramatically since the financial crisis. It is claimed by the welfares that in the long term unemployed people will be affected mentally and physically. The costs to the economy and individuals are substantial. Being unemployed affects individuals and the economy in the long run.
