The American Holistic Nurses Association is a professional nurse’s organization that centers on a holistic vision and utilizing this approach when formulating nursing interventions. These guiding principles are supported based on one’s own knowledge, standards of practice, and philosophy of living with a foundation directed towards caring relationships and interconnectedness ("American Holistic Nurses Association - the voice of holistic nursing," 2015). This specific organization offers information through community resources, informative publications, continuing education, and local networking opportunities with a focus on self-care and wellness ("American Holistic Nurses Association - the voice of holistic nursing," 2015). B: Nursing Code Examples The nursing code of ethics applies to any environment where patient care is given. As you go through each provision you will find all of these provisions apply in some form during your career. Depending upon the environment in which you serve, one provision can speak louder in terms of application as it relates to your work environment. If clarification is being sought when making difficult decisions, the code of ethics paves a clear pathway for an explanation of what we as nurses should be doing. Provision 6.2 “The Environment and Ethical Obligation” (American Nurses Association, 2015, p. 24) rings true to my position as a mental health nurse within a boy’s residential facility. It is based on
Nightingale Community Hospital identified a recent sentinel event involving the ambulatory surgical center. A sentinel event is defined as an unexpected occurrence involving death or serious physical or psychological injury, or the risk thereof (http://www.jointcommission.org/sentinel_event). A three year old female presented to the hospital on September 14th for a planned outpatient procedure. The child was accompanied by her mother. The mother registered the patient with the registrar prior to the procedure. The patient and her mother went to the pre-operative area to complete the informed consent and the necessary physical assessment. The pre-operative nurse obtained the necessary contact
Product production comes with many types of costs. Four of the most common costs are prevention costs, appraisal costs, internal failure costs and external failure costs. These four costs are called quality costs and are costs that all businesses that produce products will pay. The amount of money that will go to each cost is dependent on the amount spent on the other costs. In other words, an increase in one type of cost can result in a decrease in another. Businesses need to understand the nature of each cost in order to understand for which cost to budget.
The disease process I will be reviewing is traumatic brain injuries. A traumatic brain injury occurs when sudden trauma occurs to an individual’s brain. Traumatic brain injuries are considered closed or penetrating. Traumatic brain injuries are categorized as mild, moderate or severe based on the amount of damage that occurs to the brain. Cognitive Development refers to the construction of the thought process that includes problem solving, remembering and the ability to make decisions, from childhood up to the adulthood stage. Cognitive/Intellectual Development is the ability to learn, reason, and analyze the fact that a process begins from infancy and progresses as the individual (Educational Psychology). Cognitive Development contains events that are logical, like thinking and remembering. Some factors remain the same throughout many of the theories on cognitive development. All theorists agree that people go through specific steps and/or
A. Nurse sensitive indicators are factors that are directly impacted by nursing. There indicators fall into three categories; structure, process and outcomes of nursing care. The structure indicators are the organizational piece of nursing care. These relates to the amount of staff on duty at a given time, how many RN's are on duty and experience level of the staff. For example, evidence indicates institutions with a higher number of RN’s possessing a Bachelor Degree in nursing result in improved patient outcomes. The process indicators measure nursing care such as patient assessment, patient care and intervention. These are the organizational policies and procedures of nursing. The patient outcomes are indicators directly related to
The situation that will be evaluated in this analysis will be; is there a region of the United States in which childhood obesity tends to be more prominent? This will be done to show areas in which the Government, insurance companies and healthcare institutions should focus campaigns for healthy living to reduce future healthcare cost. The data that will be utilized to answer this business question will be the percent of children ages ten to seventeen that are overweight or obese in each of the fifty states. The states will then be categorized into their respective regions of East, South, Midwest, and West. It is important to look into the regions to see if there is a trend of obesity within a region, as this

In the State of North Carolina(NC) to be able to obtain a license to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner the applicant will first will have to hold an active valid Registered Nurse license number from NC or from another compact state (NC Board of Nursing, 2015). The next major step is to complete an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) program. Until recently South University was not an accredited school in North Carolina for Nurse Practitioner not only a few months ago the accreditation was obtained. After satisfactory completion of the program the prospective NP will have to apply to the AANC or ACNP for examination to obtain a certification (NC Board of Nursing, 2015). Once the NP passes the board she will have national certification to practice in any state where the Registered Nurse license is active, and she will have to follow the requirement for that state. The board will mail a registration card that will allow the nurse to use the title of NP, but it does not grant the authority to practice. The NP will have to apply for certification to practice (NC Board of Nursing, 2015)
The nursing supervisor has multiple issues to address in this scenario, the use of restraints and formation of a pressure ulcer are of a great concern, but I believe these are easily rectified with training and follow-up audits to ensure
Health rule challenges continue, even as October 1, 2015 looms. Individual insurance benefits fluctuate as employers scramble to control costs, making it increasingly difficult for hospitals and physicians to stay on top of diverse policy provisions and exclusions. Myriad new regulations and mandates for providers and employers also means more responsibility for paying for health care services falls into the hands of patients. Large medical groups and care facilities rely on next generation revenue cycle management (RCM) solutions and medical billing software to automate their workflow and improve reimbursement rates. However, smaller practices and ancillary service providers may still be in the dark about emerging technology and tools to help them control costs without compromising care.
Primary source: I accessed Ovid from the KU Online Library to find “studies written by the researchers who conducted them” (Polit & Beck, 2012, p.95). Some of the search terms that I used were diabetes management obstacles, diabetes management guidelines, diabetes obstacles, and poor diabetes management. I found an interesting article describing a study that was done in five Texas clinics to help manage diabetes within a set population. This study used community health workers to assist patients with their diabetes management. “Interventions utilizing community health workers (CHWs) to assist with diabetes management have demonstrated improvements in patient outcomes” (Walton, Snead, Collinsworth, and Schmidt, 2012, p.161). These healthcare workers created a plan of care for diabetic patients to participate in that provided these patients with longer doctors’ visits with more teaching and patient assessment. It also included more follow up care with continued longer doctors’ visits to ensure that they were on track with managing their diabetes. This study used statistical analysis to measure patients HbA1c levels throughout the study to measure the effectiveness of the study.
This report demonstrates the current financial situation for the Stratton Township Park and makes recommendations for the annual program budget for the next fiscal year. We first show the current annual budget program, indicating line-item details for each function by account and summarizing the park budget as a whole. Second, we find the break-even points for the golf course green fee and the pool admission to determine what the park would have to charge in order to cover expenses of the these operations. Next, we calculate the marginal revenues and expenses to determine the impact of shutting down certain programs in the park. Lastly, this report prepares the revised budget for the upcoming fiscal year based on our recommendations.
Engulfed by a cloud of grey, there are many situations that are not unblemished in the profession of nursing. Ethical dilemmas are often the most challenging to handle as they are interlinked with our own personal values and morals, requiring knowledge and attention to many factors (Burkhardt, Nathaniel, & Walton, 2014). Ethical predicaments will cross our paths daily and we need to utilize ethical frameworks, codes and our personal decision making to come to a well-informed conclusion. When we are in the vicinity of an uncertain quandary our human nature is tested, and we thoroughly scrutinise who we are ethically and morally. I am going to work through an ethical decision making model
