After four years of high school, there is only one goal I have in mind. That goal is to attend college. This is the next big step in my life. All the late nights I stayed up to complete school assignment was for this moment. All my hard work was has lead me to this point in life. College will open a whole new to me. A world where I can meet new people while working to improve my future. Why do I want to attend college though? Well I have three specific reasons for this decision. The first reason is because I just really want to make my parents proud. I am going to be the first person in my family to attend college in the United States. This is a honor I praise highly. I don't want to disappoint my parents by not attending college because they have sacrificed a lot for me. When we first moved to the United States life was rough. My dad couldn't find a stable job and my mom struggled to adapt to life in South Carolina. As hard as it was though, my parents did their best to give the best education and childhood possible. We eventually prevailed and settle down well in South Carolina. My parents support keep me going all the way through high …show more content…
In today's society a college degree will open the door to many job opportunities. The possibilities are endless compared to those presented with a high school diploma. College gives you a chance to show the world the best version of yourself. They give you the chance to get earn money for doing the thing you love. College degrees are the difference between living comfortably, or struggling paycheck to paycheck. I don't want to struggle, so this is why high school is just the beginning of my education. College also gives you the chance to meet new people from around the country. A lot can happen in fours years. Meeting and interacting with new people could open the door for new ways and passions for learning. The more I learn, the more I enrich my future
There are multiple reasons why someone may want to go to college. Whether it’s to pursue their dreams or prove people wrong. I want to go to college because I want to pursue my dream of majoring in mathematics, math is a passion of mine. I can not say fully what I want to do with my life or when I will find out, but I do know that math is something I want to continue studying. Being Hispanic does not give me a good advantage when it comes to colleges, I have to make sure my voice is heard. What is even more complicated is being a first generation college student, my family really can not help because my parents did not go to college. I have to set the example for my younger brother because he is also going to be a first generation college student
Good things do not come to those who wait. They happen to people who put in blood, sweat and tears. Good things happen to people with grit, passion and the ability to fight for something better. I am a strong believer that if an opportunity does not find you, you had better get up and chase it. It is much easier to accept the hands dealt to you. However, I do not have time to sit around and wait for the good to happen to me. Change and success wait for nobody, which is why me attending college and, hopefully, having help funding my education is so incredibly important. I am chasing my dreams down, and once I catch them, I do not plan to let them go.
Many of us attended college because it was something that instilled in our heads as a child. We really did not understand why our parents were so firm in their demands for a college education, but as we matured, it was clear that our parents wanted us to be flourishing individuals. Once we reached high school and began taking college admission tests such as the SAT and ACT and commenced college applications, we were slowly coming closer to our parents’ dreams of us going to college. Of course we want to satisfy our parents’ desires, but why should we really be enrolled in college? Students should complete college for loan forgiveness approval, higher financial benefits, networking purposes, and secure placement in the job economy.
Growing up is not an easy thing to do. When you are young, you really do not understand the consequences of your actions. In my younger days, I really had no direction. I come from a small town economically sustained by a nearby Air Force base. My mom never graduated high school. While my father did, he never went to college. He joined the military at a young age and retired from the service.
College, a place for those who pursue higher education, to expand with new learning, fresh ideas, and unique experiences; a place for growth. With all these developmental properties, issues still flower over the growing request for specified schooling over broad course standards. So, the growing appeal for curriculums to be more particular draws whether wide academic schoolings are necessary and how I see it.
I originate myself, which allowed me to be the young lady I am today and I will not desecrate that. I will be successful and go to college. High school was only the beginning for me and I have yet to finish my goal. I have more risks to take, more days to study, and actions to take part of. College will allow me to develop. At a point of time I didn’t know who I was, but now I know; a future Nurse practitioner. College will allow me to discover more about myself and the outside world. I’m ready for the harsh lessons that will prepare me for my future. I’m ready to learn from my own mistakes and better from them. I’m ready to make my own decisions instead of my parent’s. I’m ready to feel the sense of the struggle of life. I’m ready
I lived in a small town called Hamlin, and I went to Hamlin High School. Hamlin Is where many high school graduates don’t even think about going to college, the thought of that horrified me. I know that it will take hard work to get where I want in the end, but ever since the start of my junior year, I have started to focus on my grades. In high school, I went from A’s, B’s, and C’s to mostly all A’s. I have been planning on attending Texas Tech University in the fall of 2019. I want to double major in Political Science and History. I haven’t decided if I want to be a teacher or not, but one thing is for sure, I want to be the first in my family to graduate college, but the fact of the matter is my family just doesn’t have enough money to pay for all of my education.
My family came to the United States 6 years ago with the hope of advance our life and have a better future for my sister and I. Both of my parents came from a family with 10 to 15 siblings, for that reason, they had to put aside their education and worked at factories in order to earn money. When I heard their stories, I promised myself that I have to study hard since they sacrificed everything they have in Vietnam and flown to the States just for their children. Since then, my biggest dream was to go to college but I did not figure out what I would study or what would be my major. Perhaps, it was when I started to get in touch with Biology and Chemistry classes during my high school. Hence, my interest for those two subjects grew larger each day, and lessons in class turned out more to be more delightful than ever. As a result, I talked to my teacher and family about what I want to study. My dad asked me one question and that question made me reaffirmed about the purpose of who and what I want to be. He asked me, “Do you study for yourself or do you study for your mom and me? Because I just want you to grow up to be a kind and helpful
Ever since I've been deciding what college I want to go to in the future, it was hard choosing the top three colleges I wanted to go to because I didn’t know the major I really want to study. As I was a freshman, I realized the majors I wanted to study was informational science and medical science. This resulted me that the top three colleges I want to apply to are Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stony Brook University.
When I think about when I was younger, I remember being asked what I wanted to be when I was older. I remember saying that I wanted to go to college to be a fashion designer. Now thinking back on all of those times, I don’t ever remember a time that college wasn’t encouraged. We’ve been expected to go to college directly after high school, and then we can hopefully attain our dream job. But a college degree is not the only pathway for success.
The reason why I’m attending college is to challenge myself. To see what my life has for me in the future. Another reason why I am is to show my family that I can become a better person for myself. Also to pick a profession where I can help people out, and to have a better understanding of others illnesses.
Growing up to a family of immigrants, I was exposed to having parents who had to work many different jobs to make ends meet. My parents did not know English nor did they graduate from college. My dad never even attended to high school. However, he always taught me that business is what makes the world go round. He always said “Own your own business and be your own boss.” My parents worked full time in factories while on the side they sold jewelry to various different clients. My dad loved jewelry making and knew that one day he would be able to open up his own store. Even before he learned repairs, he knew that this was the type of industry he wanted to be in. So after many years of working over 60 hours a week he saved enough to start his own jewelry store in Lawrence with my mom. They financed it using personal savings and with loans from family since they did not have enough credit or experience to get a bank loan.
I originally attended SAGU, because I thought God was calling me to be a missionary to Africa to build churches and serve the people who reside there. After I began praying about it more, I soon realized that was not what I was meant to do; at that point in time I had no idea what I was even called to do. I then just decided to take initiative and do things on my own (what a horrible idea I had). I decided to change my major to communication and go my own route with life. That decision soon blew up in my face, because when we had to go to breakout chapels I felt so uneasy and wrong. I then went back to the drawing board to figure out what in the world God wanted me to do with my life. I prayed so many times, and then God spoke to me about doing something with
As I have always viewed my future, college is not for everyone. I may be one of those people who think that it is best if they do not attend college. I already have plans for the future and in those plans it does not require me to go to college and therefore, I do not believe that college is for me. I already have a job and I am currently trying to finish my high school so that I can open my own business. I already know where to obtain my materials and have planned out where and how I will begin my company. Most people would say that college is important for any career, but in my case, it is not true, college is just another step in education
I have to go to college.” That’s what I always said when I was young, actually I don’t really know why I want to go to college at that time. The only thing I know is most people are pursuing a college education, studying in college is just like a fantasy for most of the students. I believe that this is because the information we receive in our daily life nowadays. For example: the “advertisement of the tutorial class that telling you how to succeed in academic, the unemployment rate reported in the news and the requirements of those jobs in society.
