This is the job of a veterinary technician; the career of a vet tech is one that many people pursue from the moment they hear of it, and those like myself are determined to work hard to get to it. Those who already work in the field could tell you a waterfall of reasons why being a vet tech is admirable, but here are three of my own; one reason is because of the enjoyment it can bring, the second is because of what vet techs do, and the third is because of the payment. So, if you want to learn about vet techs, and maybe even become one like myself, keep on reading!
My initial interest in veterinary medicine began during my childhood when I developed responsibility in providing care for all animals. I had hands on experiences when exercising proper herd health techniques with our veterinarian for our cow/calf operation. I learned how to vaccinate, create a balanced nutritional diet, and prepare for each calving season. I also became fascinated with the human-animal bond when training a Leader Dog for the Blind and showing livestock around the state of Indiana. My experiences with having a connection with animals and taking care of them encouraged me to further investigate the veterinary profession.

We use animals for many things from food to companions to service animals so we need to make sure that they are at the top of their health. I do not like seeing animals suffer for diseases that can be treated either. I would like to be able to help people with treating the animals in their care and teaching them new things in the process as well.
While I never in my wildest dreams thought being a veterinarian was my dream career, I believe that my enthusiasm for animals was created at a very young age through my passion for science, and eagerness to help people and animals alike. Even in elementary school, I was determined to find every way possible to help others. I jumped at every opportunity to raise money for endangered animals, through bake sales and garage sales. I read to younger children, tutored my classmates, collected canned food, I even started a club in fifth grade that collected almost 3,000 books for children in Uganda.
