Students shouldn’t have homework because they can’t go hang out with their friends as much. Students have responsibilities outside of school that they have to take care of. Homework takes away from a student’s ability to socialize outside of school. 70% of students have reported decreased time spent with peers in order to do homework. Kids don’t have enough time to relax when they get home from a hard day at school. Life today is hectic even for kids. In the majority of cases, they have some extracurricular activities (clubs or sports) and supplementary classes or tutoring to attend almost every day. Such a busy schedule puts a child under a lot of stress and homework doubles it. Families need more time to spend
With homework being a very important aspect of school kids are ultimately robbed of their free time. Time outside of school should be spent on partaking in extracurricular activities, socializing, and refreshing oneself to get prepared for school the next day. Outside of their school day, most children wish to have lives, but most of their lives are being flooded by homework and its pressures. Although, doing homework can prepare students for quizzes. It allows the child to learn the necessities in order to do well on their upcoming test or quizzes without their grade suddenly plummeting from scoring poorly on a test or quiz. A plethora of homework may make a child dislike school because piling on various homework assignments tends to take away
I strongly believe that homework must not be given out to high school students simply because many students may suffer from stress, Many students have other commitments they may have to attend to after school, Students also have at least 6-7 hours of school 5 days a
Oxford dictionary, homework is schoolwork that a student is required to do at home. But there
According to the article by Druker, “If bombarded with countless lessons at school and at home, students may feel stress and anxiety should they fail to complete the assignment on time.” They should be allowed to spend time exploring different things outside school. Children require time to rest and take their minds off of school work, as too much can make them feel burnt out and become a burden. Too much homework can negatively impact the performance of students and become counterproductive instead of improving achievements in school. It can decrease the value the kids see in the work they take home and decrease their ability to commit as much time as they should to each task. Children need freetime to do things like spend time with family and friends and participate in sports. By having too much homework, it makes it difficult for children to have a
To begin, a surplus of homework can lead to emotional and physical health issues for a student and causes too much stress. In fact, a study completed by 4,317 high-school students, conducted by the Stanford Graduate School of Education discovered that giving more than two-hours of homework each night will adversely affect the lives of students. This research revealed that students in high-achieving communities who spend too much time on homework experience more stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance and even alienation from society. Countless students struggle to complete their homework because it is over-complicated for them. Teachers contribute to this predicament by giving pupils an excess of homework making it challenging

This research revealed that students in high-achieving communities who spend too much time on homework experience more stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance and even alienation from society. Countless students struggle to complete their homework because it is over-complicated for them. Teachers contribute to this predicament by giving pupils an excess of homework making it challenging for students to submit it promptly. Thus, students become anxious as homework would take hours for pupils to finish, and gradually develop unhealthy living habits resulting in loss of sleep, fatigue, lower grades, and unhealthy eating habits. When a student arrives home after a tiresome school day, they need to release their stress and exhaustion by relaxing. However, students cannot due to the amount of stress they have related to complicated homework. To finish homework, students often stay up late at night, avoid eating dinner, and have a nervous-breakdown as they fear that they will not be able to complete and submit the assignments or worksheets on time. If no homework is given, students would not have to live a gloomy
Homework might appear to be beneficial when studies show students who do homework do better academically, however, there is a point at which homework has a negative effect on students. “The purpose of homework is to reinforce the learning that takes place in school or prepare children for forthcoming lessons, which in theory, sounds ideal. But, research on homework has indicated otherwise. Apparently, too much is detrimental to children” (Rajoo). The excessive homework that kids are being assigned is not helping
Homework has been considered apart of every child’s learning experience in America, but there are many downsides to homework. Homework prevents children from exploring the world they live in, besides just what they learn in the classroom and prevents many other activities. Along with this, homework can be very unhealthy is child’s life due to the amount of stress it causes. There is also evidence that suggests homework has no affect on learning and in many cases is counter productive. Homework causes many conflicts within families and is in many households left to the parents and not the students. The evidence of homework being a good thing is outweighed by the evidence that shows how homework can be a negative thing in many students lives.
The struggle students, parents, and teachers face with homework has remained problematic for many generations. Some educators and parents will argue that it is necessary and helpful to the students when it comes to their academic achievement, but most students will argue that it is not as effective as it seems. In fact, homework has been a key element in the education of students since their first year of school. As students get into higher grades the amount of work they are assigned becomes increasingly difficult and can become too much for them to handle, which is the case for many high school students. The excessive amount of homework high school students receive has led many of them to have stress, thus resulting in the
Think about this word, family. What if you never got to spend time with your family? What if you missed that special time that you could have spent hanging out and having fun with your family, but instead, you were locked up in your room doing your homework. And it's not your fault, you want to spend time with your family, but your stressful homework is keeping you away. This is another reason why schools should not have homework. Homework takes away time for special things, like family, friends, sports, hobbies, and even being a little more social. Speaking of social, homework can cause social issues, too. Thinking about kids who don't have time to spend time with people and socialize, but instead doing their homework. This can trouble them and cause emotional, social, working with other people and friend
Being a student myself, I’ve witnessed how homework has affected students, both positively and negatively. I’ve seen students crumble after their third hour. Homework has aided me positively up until the sixth grade, any homework assigned after was unbeneficial. Hours upon hours of after-school assignments are assigned and I don’t understand how they’re supposed to help me in the long run. If anything, it’s made me neglect school more each time. I’m forced to do assignments because my grades depend on it when it should be my time to wind down from the seven hours I spent in a classroom.
Ever since I can remember I’ve hated Homework. Almost every kid and even most adults I know despise and resent it. Too much homework can cause stress, bad behavior/attitude, sleep deprivation, lower self-esteem, and poor social skills. There are many statistics to back the argument that too much homework is harmful. In 2013, research conducted at Stanford University found that students in high-achieving communities who spend too much time on homework experience more stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance in their lives, and alienation from society.
Homework may be thought of to help kids improve their test scores and studies, but this common misconception has our whole school systems fooled beyond belief. Over the years, the study of this controversial topic has been operated heavily. For example, Duke University psychology professor Harris Cooper conducted studies called the 2006 Meta Analysis that are heavily renowned in the community. some studies he examined showed homework can cause physical and emotional fatigue, fuel negative attitudes about learning and limit leisure time for children. This is beyond true nowadays, where our school systems push kids to sleep less, stress more, and spend less time with family. The fact that most of us students get less than the recommended 8 hours a night and are given on average one hour of homework per class is awful to
Schools today give out homework like it’s candy. There are students who come home from a long day at school and immediately start their homework, only to finish it hours later. The vast amount of homework given out these days is insane, and should either be cut back or abolished altogether. The pressure put on students just to finish their homework is unnecessary. It is proof of homework being harmful to students.
Students do not have enough time for homework. Nowadays students have jobs, extracurricular activities, and family obligations on top of going to school for seven hours a day. According to John Rhodes and Jan Wilson, in “Student’s Perspectives on Homework,” they argue students may end up coming home late from sports and feel “unmotivated to complete their assigned homework tasks.” Going from school, wearing students down mentally and then going to a sport, wearing students down physically, students are completely exhausted and decide that the homework can be put on the backburner. They either do not do it or give little effort, just to get it over with. Rhodes and Wilson add that students “become stressed from the volume of homework” and feel they “need down time to relax after attending school.
