Why Outsiders Are Misunderstood?

There is a bountiful number of outsiders in our society and we are wondering, why are they outsiders and what have they done to become that, what defines them? Outsiders in our society are simply misunderstood and people do not understand them, hence them being outsiders. The reasons that seem to make outsiders misunderstood is that they do not like or do the popular stuff at the time. Also, those who are outsiders are seen as people that are “different,” but really are misunderstood. Outsiders are just misunderstood in society and not purposely being pushed out.

Are outsiders simply those who are misjudged or misunderstood? Whether outsiders are misjudged or misunderstood depends on whose perspective you view this question from. When you look at someone you are developing an opinion of them, and you may be misjudging them by deciding they are an outsider. While when you are the person being judged you feel that you are just simply misunderstood. You may have experienced one or probably both of these perspectives. Moreover to truly understand what it means to be an outsider you need to understand both of these perspectives.

What is an outsider? An outsider is a person who is not excepted by or is isolated by society. Have you ever been an “outsider”? Everyone experiences a situation where they weren’t able to fit in. The feeling of not being able to fit it is universal. Not everyone is the same and in certain situations you may not be able to bond with everyone. Everyone is focused on being judged or being the person who is judging someone. If you are not like everyone in your society group, those people don’t except you. Nowadays our society feels that if you aren’t up to people’s expectations, you are known to be an “outsider”. Being an outsider is universal because not everyone is social, not everyone can afford nice things and not everyone is popular.

When the word outsider comes to mind, you may think of a person who is not part of a certain group or activity. Well, in the novel “The outsiders,” writer S.E. Hinton tells a story that takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma about two teenage groups; the greasers and the Socs. Sometimes, it can be hard to identify what social group you’d think you’d fall under. In the novel, the greasers and the Socs are stereotyped by their peers and they feel like outsiders. But as the story unfolds, they realize that they need to set aside their differences and not assume each other’s personalities based on the social groups that they’re in.

Even though Card believes outsiders feels excluded, they are created when they fail to conform to social norms. An outsider is created when one does not fit in with society’s standards. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Clarisse McClellan is alienated by her peers because her behavior does not reflect on what her community deems as acceptable. '''Oh, they don’t miss me,'she said. '' I’m antisocial, they say.

People will become an outsider for various reasons such as social class. A story called The Dollhouse, show this is different ways. The main character's family was in the high class. The Burnell’s have the best clothes and toys. On the other hand, the Kelveys barely had at any belongings to themselves. When all the children from the neighborhood go to school they will go outside and play. During this time "the only two who stayed outside the ring were the two who were always outside, the little Kelveys. They knew better than to come anywhere near the Burnells" (Doll house page 203). The Kelveys didn't have an abundance of much so they stayed away from people who do. They know they don't belong in that social class, but they don't have any other choice. Knowing this they avoid the Brunell's and the other families like them. The calories were outsiders because of their social class.

Outsiders are continuously surrounding us and leaving a question in what role they play. Outsiders are people who stand apart from what is normal to the area. They will commonly be looked down upon. Outsiders are people who will stand apart from a group they don't want to mix with. Outsiders are usually looked down upon for good reasons sometimes.

Have you ever felt like an outsider? I have and it's not the best feeling. People judge you on how you act, what you wear, how rich or poor you are. In 1967 S.E Hinton wrote her book "the outsiders."

Their eccentricities may not be bad, but they still do not always allow somebody to fit in under all circumstances. To go along with the fact that everybody has differences, everyone can clearly see that some people stand out as outsiders more than others. People can be seen as outsiders because their differences are so prominent, but they do not automatically assume that everyone else can be an outsider too. For example, in The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester is looked at with shame and seen as an outsider because everybody knows of her sin. The people treated Hester as an outsider because she literally wore her sin on her chest, but in reality Dimmesdale was just as bad as her, but he was the only one who viewed himself as an outsider.

Are outsiders simply those who are misjudged or misunderstood? Human beings are perhaps the most unique species in the world. People have diverse backgrounds, cultures and languages. Everyone also has a distinct personality, appearance, and stories to tell. Although humans are all different in their own way, they tend to associate themselves with people who share alike personality traits or share common interests .

Carson, I agree with you, but I think an outsder is more than that. Being an outsider can mean that nobody accepts them. They are not only left out but are not noticed. Poeple think they are different then themselves so they ignore them or they bully them. Ousiders are not considered "normal" to society in that area. Carson, your definition was great

My definition of an "outsider" is someone who is often socially awkward and usually don't know how to talk or contact with people. When they do, it doesn't always come out right. And in some cases due to their socially awkwardness, some people don't welcome them into their circle of friends. Sometimes, they aren't welcomed at all to any social group. However, they can form groups consisting of all "outsiders" and this would be called a gang. Not all are them are bad or as others may say they are. But, there are in cases when they have gone to negative ways to get a result. The way I would describe an outsider is someone that doesn't fit into a certain category. They usually end up being left out of an activity or group. In all history, segregation was a main subject of all of the problems. The group of people that were treating the people badly didn't understand what they were feeling and how they were being treated, so they continued to hurt them. For example, the Jews and

We have all seen outsiders before, maybe we have even been one. Maybe we have seen someone crying really hard in public, or a man wearing a skirt. You may see those people and be like “What is up with those guys,” or “That is weird,” or something. You may even go the extra mile and call them out on it, if you are really mean. But you do not know what is going on with their life; maybe the person crying saw a heartbreaking series finale, maybe a relative of theirs died; maybe the man in the skirt just wanted to look cute, maybe they were questioning their gender and experimenting with gendered clothing. Basically, all of those outsiders you see in public are nothing more than misunderstood or misjudged people. This can be seen in the main protagonist of The Metamorphosis- by Franz Kafka- Gregor Samsa, and in my own life.

Ezra Miller once said “Everybody feels like an outcast because the world is so large and every fingerprint is so vastly different from one another, and yet we have these standards and beliefs, and dogmatic systems of judgement and ranking, in almost all the societies of the world.” We are all part of a bigger picture, and we are tiny when compared to it. Everybody is looked at through these types of judgement and ranking without their knowledge of it. It happens everywhere one might go and one might do. Being an outsider is a universal part of the human experience because of their circumstances, money, and talents.
