Pertaining to the first question Slyl’s and my response agreed in the main objective is to complete the project efficiently and on schedule. A mangers most first and foremost goal is to make sure the work is done. Therefore Slyl made the descion with a recommendation from Bob on the most effective way to complete the project on time with an added bonus of giving two other employees the chance to step up to the plate. Therefore, Slyl decided to use a less preferred strategy to manage diversity such as excluding Daniel from the portion of the project in which he intended to work with Bob. Danielle was isolated from that portion of the project. As stated in (Kreitner, 2015) this option maintains the current way of doing things by setting the diverse person off to the side. Furthermore, since the move does not affect Daniel’s employment, influence promotions, standing in the company, day to day work, or evaluations there is not a case against the company for discrimination. Consequently, the move will change Daniele’s attitude toward the company and will reflect in his organizational commitment. Therefore, his willingness to work harder and achieve organizational goals will diminish creating an employee who has checked out due to feelings of being discriminated against and working for a company that does not have a commitment to him.
Once this project was announced, I honestly thought that this would be fun and an easy A. I thought that we had all the good connections amongst the two classes that we would easily be able to convince the student body of anything. Even when I heard that we had to break into three groups, I thought to myself that it would be fine. However, my whole idea of this project changed within about ten minutes of the assignment.
Interacting with my classmate in the Collaborative project has been a great experience to learn about the profession of architecture and how each person plays a major role. Even though the project did not last long, it gave me a sight on what the world of architecture is really about. This is not the first time I am part of a group project, but I have gained a different feeling and experience from the Collaborative project, which is listening and speaking out and loud. Each member was involved and participated in one way or another, which made the work easier. Together we tried to understand what the project was about and worked together through all the project, which was really great.
