Answering the opposition
What was your initial reaction to Limbaugh’s claim that, “feminism was established so that unattractive women could have easier access to the mainstream of society?
My first reaction was that he went a little bit too far with that statement, I think unattractive women and attractive women could have or not have an easier access to the mainstream of society as any men too.
” What are two of Limbaugh’s main points?
The first main point is the fact that women today have more power even though the biological fact that male are the aggressors is true, but women have the power to make decisions when it

How does Limbaugh support these points? Give specific examples here from the text.
An example given is the concept of date rape, which the intent of rape which does not have different meanings, but it is to distinguish the serious types of rape within the category of rape behavior that is not rape. A proof described is the young star of “The Wonder Years,” Fred Savage who at the time was sixteen years old experienced a case with sexual harassment by a former staffer of the show, Monique Long, who claimed that Savage repeatedly asked her to have an affair with him and touched her by her holding her hand. Another case involved was with Jason Harvey who was another actor who had harassed the same woman for two years on the show as a costume designer and at one instance touching her in a sexual way. These proofs show that sexual harassment can be interpreted into many ways. How would you answer Limbaugh’s points if you were arguing for the opposition to each of the two points you have selected?
That woman today doesn’t have a lot of power because we live in a planet where in other countries and religion, men are to be believed to be superior to women. Also for the second point women should claim any type of abuses, even if it is a minor incident, to alert me to step away and not to mess with women, even if these types of defenses mechanics could be called by men as feminism. Overall, did you find this essay convincing? Why or why not?
I
society. When he compares woman in his speech he is saying women must obey a certain way and live under rules of others.
Limbaugh attempts to refute his opposition with a reduction ad absurdum argument. He uses rhetoric example intended to demonstrate his belief that condoms distributes and promotes sexual activity. He provides his definition of gender and sex roles. He claims that sex has consequences by using “Magic
1. Ernestine Friedl says that the position of women is higher the more they are involved in (l) primary subsistence (as owners or controllers, NOT merely as laborers) and (2) the PUBLIC distribution of the product of subsistence. Use this argument to account for the position of women in Kung society. Make sure you use both part (l) and part (2) of Friedl’s argument. (Don’t worry that Friedl’s argument is simplistic; she is not trying to say that women’s role in subsistence is the ONLY factor that affects their position in society.)
He was also quoted in saying, “I believe that women can do more than just cook and clean.” and promised to tackle the issue, stupidly following the progressive nonsense of equal right, and calling for more government control
Again, it is necessary for him to capitalize upon pre-existing beliefs of the audience in order to construct an argument that appears sound to them. His goal is not necessarily to connect facts to reality, but to lead the audience to his conclusions based on their shared perception of reality. This approach lends itself readily to logical fallacies such as straw man and ad hominem fallacies, which one could argue O'Reilly readily embraces. By misrepresenting other people's positions in one case, and using their own words against them, he furthers his point while simultaneously demonizing his opposition. O'Reilly employs rhetorical sleight of hand to ease the way in establishing how his conclusion naturally proceeds from his premise by focusing our attention on people rather than
Although what Wallace said in her video was disgraceful, the responses show that women cannot speak what is on their mind without having other aspects, such as their appearance, being brought into the
While Fareed Zakaria was interviewing Bill Maher, a comedian, a television host and someone who dislikes Trump. Maher is on the left side of the Republicans and would disagree with Trump. Also, that Maher would make jokes on what Trump said. Now, as a Trump Supporter, I disagreed with many points that Maher said. The points that I disagreed with the most on where he said that we live in a fact free bubble, that everything goes out the window if people voted for Trump, and won, and that Americans will vote for celebrities and anyone else before an Atheist.
"For me, it 's not even that I 'm a feminist. I 'm for anybody. I 'm for everybody, for everything. I don 't care what you want to do in your life, or whom you want to be with, which you want to love, who you want to look like. I’m a feminist in the way that I’m really empowering to women.”
I want to bring up Kimmels point on pro-femimist men. Toward the end of the article he “Men have been there supporting women’s equality every step of the way. And if men have been there, it means that men can be there and that they will be there”(Kimmel 27). I find Kimmels view to be very biased because even though he makes a few good points, there not true. For instance, “Frederick Douglas campaigned tiredlessly for womens rights” (Kimmel 26), was unnecessary. Men called the shots for womens because they were in control. Not only that, but women were never given a chance to redeem themselves because the odds were against them. Women shouldn’t have to fight for there rights, equal pay, leadership positions because they’ve already earned it.
When looking Southern’s video the aimed to destroy feminism and the stigma attached to third wave feminism is a clear motive. Southern starts her video with a strong but intimidating rhetorical question “If feminism is a movement for equality why don’t we see squad representation of both genders issues?”. This not only shocks the audience but also intrigues them explore the antifeminist argument. Watson’s transcript explores and expresses the unfair stereotypes that females and males have to endure on a frequent basis. Watson uses rhetorical questions in her speech “In a country that has achieved marriage equality, shouldn’t gender equality be next?’“. As the rhetorical question was stated at the end of the transcript it is a powerful solid
These aren’t isolated examples they represent the thoughts of a childish vulgar man with the temperament of a Middle School student and a party and political ideology with no backbone, suffering from dementia. The alternative right which had all the potential in the world to be a political force in this country made an unholy alliance with a man and a political movement which specializes in
“I was really disheartened for a while; it just brought up a lot of trauma for me. Misogyny and sexism were in my childhood: I have an issue with suppressive males and not being seen as equal. I felt like a little kid again being faced with a scary, controlling guy,” said Perry
Men are granted more power than women, making it difficult for women’s voices to be heard. It is the story of Silence that proves that one’s true nature does not dictate one’s capabilities. This ideology has lead the Women’s Right’s movement and caused gender-based oppression to decrease. Woman can now be seen in positions of power.
Also that, while he would not outlaw abortion, he considers it aghastly procedure that should be restricted and views it as a human rights issue. All of these positions raise the ire of conservatives and liberals alike, though not at the same time and not about the same reason. However, it is not unusual, to find yourself wanting to kissthe screen one moment and put your foot through it the next, no matter what your political persuasion may be.The book THE O'REILLY FACTOR was primarily about O'Reilly, but THE NO SPIN ZONE is mostly about O'Reilly television program and what has occur during some of his more notable interviews. Almost all of the chapters have a format. Each began with an exchange between O'Reilly and a guest, followed by some extended written comments quoted by O'Reilly; an edited transcript of the exchanges between O'Reilly and his guest du jour; and some additional editorial comments by O'Reilly.O'Reilly made his bones by pushing hard questions to people as diverse as James Carville and George W. Bush, Susan Sarandon and Laura Schlessinger. His insights of, and exchanges with, these individuals are found in THE NO SPIN
Was the very fact he had brought this subject up a sign of how out of touch his opinions were with those of the society he was supposedly a part of? He didn’t know the answer to that. Nor did he know the answer to another question: Is it possible to be a feminist and enjoy porn too? If not, what do lesbians do? He mentally crossed that last sentence out. It was probably offensive, he chastised himself. Or at the very least likely to be misinterpreted.
