Christopher Columbus Andrews (1829–1922)
Andrews, Christopher Columbus. An American diplomat and writer; born at Hillsborough, NH, Oct. 27, 1829; died in 1922. He was brevetted major-general in the Civil War, was minister to Sweden from 1869 to 1877, and consul-general to Brazil from 1882 to 1885. Among his numerous works are: ‘Minnesota and Dakota’ (1857); ‘Practical Treatise on the Revenue Laws of the United States’ (1858); ‘History of the Campaign of Mobile’ (1867); ‘Brazil, its Condition and Prospects’ (1886); ‘Administrative Reform.’
