Elizabeth Inchbald (1753–1821)

Inchbald, Elizabeth (Simpson). An English actress, dramatist, and novelist; born in 1753; died in 1821. ‘A Simple Story,’ ‘Nature and Art’ are among her best tales. She also wrote: ‘Such Things Are’; ‘The Married Man’; ‘The Wedding Day’; ‘The Midnight Hour’; ‘Every One Has his Fault’; Lovers’ Vows’; etc.
