Ferdinand Gross (1849–1900)

Gross, Ferdinand (grōs). An Austrian journalist; born in Vienna, April 8, 1849; died in 1900. His first success was ‘Literary Music of the Future’ (1877). ‘In Passing,’ ‘Unbound,’ ‘Passion-Play Letters,’ ‘Leaves in the Wind,’ and other collections, have been popular. His poems, notably ‘Songs from the Mountain Tops,’ and his plays, ‘The First Letter’ and ‘At Three o’Clock,’ are of special merit.
