Chocano, José Santos. A Latin-American poet; born in Peru in 1875; died in 1934. He applies the modern technique to the celebration of American themes, emphasizing the solidarity of the American race, embracing even the Yankees. His volumes are: ‘Iras Santas’ (1894); ‘En la Aldea’ (1894); ‘La Epopeya del Morro’ (1899).
