Julius Chambers (1850–1920)

Chambers, Charles Julius. An American novelist; born in Bellefontaine, OH, Nov. 21, 1850; died in 1920. In 1870 he traveled through the West Indies, Europe, the United States, and Canada, as special correspondent of the New York Herald. In 1876 he published an account of his few weeks of experience (incognito) in an insane institution, entitled ‘A Mad World,’ which excited great interest. He was a contributor to various periodicals; also author of the two novels: ‘On a Margin’ (1884); and ‘Lovers Four and Maidens Five’ (1886).
