Louis d’Ussieux (1744–1805)

Ussieux, Louis d’ (ü-syė’). A French dramatist and historian; born at Angoulême, 1744; died at Chartres, 1805. Among his works are: ‘History of the Discovery and Conquest of the Indies by the Portuguese’ (1770); ‘The French Heroes; or, The Siege of St.-Jean-de-Losne,’ a prose drama (1770); ‘The French Decameron’ (2 vols., 1774).
