Madame Cottin (1770–1807)

Cottin, Marie (kō-ta‘). A French novelist (1770–1807). Her romances, ‘Claire d’Albe’ (1799); ‘Malvina’; ‘Elizabeth, or the Exiles of Siberia,’ her most notable work (1806), are admirable for style and character-drawing.
