Max Kretzer (1854–1941)

Kretzer, Max (kretz’er). A German novelist; born at Posen, May 7, 1854; died in 1941. Among the best of his writings are: ‘Berlin Tales and Pictures of Manners’ (2d ed. 1887); ‘Civil Death’ (1888), a drama; ‘The Deceived’ (2d ed. 1891); ‘The Sermon on the Mount’ (2d ed. 1891), dealing with social questions; ‘The Creator of Millions’ (1891); ‘Uncle Fifi’ (2d ed. 1892); ‘The Two Confederates’ (3d ed. 1893), dealing with social questions; ‘Strange Enthusiasts’ (1893); ‘The Son of the Woman’; ‘The Wandering Dollar’; ‘Waldemar Tempel’ (1911); ‘Poems’ (1914).
