Sir Sidney Colvin (1845–1927)

Colvin, Sir Sidney. An English writer; keeper of prints and drawings in the British Museum; born in Norwood, England, June 18, 1845; died in 1927. He contributed largely to periodical literature, chiefly upon subjects relative to history and the fine arts. Among his works are: ‘Life of Walter Savage Landor’ (1881); ‘Life of Keats’ (1887); ‘A Florentine Picture and Chronicle’ (1898); ‘Early History of Engraving in England’ (1901). He edited ‘Letters of Keats’ (1887), and ‘Letters of R. L. Stevenson’ (1899).
