Sylvester Judd (1813–1853)

Judd, Sylvester. An American novelist, poet, and theologian; born in Westhampton, MA, July 23, 1813; died at Augusta, ME, Jan. 20, 1853. His remarkable romance ‘Margaret’ will always be remembered. ‘Richard Edney’ is another romance; ‘Philo’ is a striking poem; and his discourses on ‘The Church’ were esteemed.
