Thomas Starr King (1824–1864)
King, Thomas Starr. An American essayist; born in New York, Dec. 17, 1824; died in San Francisco, March 4, 1864. He was a Unitarian clergyman and a popular lecturer, and wrote: ‘The White Hills: their Legends, Landscape, and Poetry’ (1859); ‘Patriotism and Other Papers’ (1864).
