Vladimir Galaktionovitch Korolenko (1853–1921)
Korolenko, Vladimir Galaktionovitch (kō”rō-len’kō). A Russian novelist; born at Zhitomir, Volhynia, July 27, 1853; died in 1921. Exiled in 1879, while still a student, to Siberia, he was pardoned in 1885. ‘Makar’s Dream’ (1885), his first work, was one of the most successful; some of the others are: ‘The Vagrant,’ a volume of sketches (1888); ‘The Blind Musician’; ‘In Two Moods’; ‘In Bad Society’; ‘The Forest Murmurs.’
