White Kennett (1660–1728)

Kennett, White. An English clergyman and historian; born at Dover, in 1660; died in 1728. From 1718 until his death he occupied the episcopal see of Peterborough. In 1706 he brought out a complete ‘History of England,’ from the earliest times to the death of William III.; and in 1713 ‘Bibliothecæ Americanæ Primordia,’ an attempt towards laying the foundation of an American library.
