Fluid Mechanics:  Concept Question: From Bernoullis equation, if you have point A and point B, where point A is at a higher elevation than point B, lets say Z1 and Z2 respectively -  You have a pump running the fluid from point B to point A , i.e. against gravity.  I understand the following: Pressure losses, h, moves in the same direction as your flow, v, and your friction, f, moves opposite to your flow, always.  So the head loss AS A RESULT OF FRICTION from Z2 to Z1, will be negative or positive? I assume negative, and the value of the aforementioned head loss will be positive in the bernoulli equation on the side of the equation involving A , as this is the direction the flow is moving towards.  Hence my question: So the head loss AS A RESULT OF FRICTION from Z2 to Z1, will be negative or positive?

Fluid Mechanics

Concept Question:

From Bernoullis equation,

if you have point A and point B, where point A is at a higher elevation than point B, lets say Z1 and Z2 respectively -

You have a pump running the fluid from point B to point A , i.e. against gravity.

I understand the following:

Pressure losses, h, moves in the same direction as your flow, v, and your friction, f, moves opposite to your flow, always.

So the head loss AS A RESULT OF FRICTION from Z2 to Z1, will be negative or positive?

I assume negative, and the value of the aforementioned head loss will be positive in the bernoulli equation on the side of the equation involving A , as this is the direction the flow is moving towards.

Hence my question:

So the head loss AS A RESULT OF FRICTION from Z2 to Z1, will be negative or positive?
