Question

How does fat absorption takes place?

Expert Solution
Step 1

The lipid metabolism is required to obtain energy from it and also to synthesize functional and structural lipids involved in cell membrane construction. The lipids obtained from foods are cholesterol and triglycerides. The body gains energy either from dietary fats or from stored fats. Lipid metabolism involves its digestion and absorption. The digestion is performed by breaking triglycerides into small monoglycerides with the help of the lipase enzyme. The lipase cannot break cholesterol so it remains intact until its entry into the small intestine epithelium.
