Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of Cognitive Remediation (CR) programs on cognition, symptoms and functioning of those experiencing a first episode of psychosis. Studies eligible for inclusion in the review: Studies were included if they (1) were an RCT, (2) all, or a distinct subgroup of participants were experiencing a first episode psychosis, and (3) the intervention met the definition of Cognitive Remediation. CR is defined as a behavioural training-based intervention that aims to improve cognitive processes such as attention, memory, executive function, social cognition and metacognition The primary outcome in the systematic review was global symptoms.
