A. cost more to install and operate.
B. be more efficient than an undersized air-conditioning system.
C. be better able to maintain the desired humidity in theconditioned space.
D. require a smaller air distribution system than an undersized air-conditioning system.

Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark
To determine

The correct option describing an oversized air-conditioning system.

Explanation of Solution

An over-sized air-conditioner, commonly known as higher tonnage A/C is predominantly expensive to own, operate and maintain. These air-conditioners usually weigh 1.5 ton and above.

These air-conditioners are bought to cool larger areas, and they come with a host of excellent features. On the flip side, they have a lot of things about them that make it difficult to maintain.

Initial outlay - The cost of purchasing these air-conditioners are 2 times the cost of owning smaller ones. This brings in the question of affordability.

Occupies larger area − As mentioned earlier, these devices are fit to be used in larger spaces like mansions or shopping centres. Their sized make it difficult for use in smaller houses.

Operational cost - The cost of servicing and maintenance of these devices are more as compared to the smaller ones. There are many instances of customers not refilling the gas which is needed for the circulation in the system. This leads to deterioration in the performance.

Considering these points, it can be concluded that an oversized air-conditioning system will cost more for installation and operation. Therefore, option B is the answer.
