Introduction On February 22, 2011 Christchurch was severely damaged by the magnitude of 6.3 earth quake that brought down many buildings. A lot of heritage buildings and modern buildings were affected, more than half of the structures in the central business district were forced to be demolished, leaving it with brownfield developments –the redevelopment of an area of land that has been previously used; the land has consequently either become vacant, deserted or contaminated. The Buildwise Properties
This research conducted a study on effectiveness of outrigger truss by simplified method to introduce the normal buildings that can be minimized the deflection as the buildings with outrigger. Two and three outrigger levels are used in 40 and 50 storey square shape buildings respectively. From this result, the engineers can run the buildings without using outrigger to get the minimum deflection as the buildings with outrigger but the base shear is larger than outrigger buildings significantly. Therefore
Sky Towers is a residential located in Ataşehir,Istanbul and consists of two housings ; one 41 storeys high and the other 31 storeys high which were build in 2011. It is mainly successfully build place, however it does occur to have a few problems. To begin with the architecture, Sky Towers is build in a post-modernistic style which can be seen in the geometrical straight lines and the contrasting rather traditional roofs of the buildings, combining popular and old fashioned aspects of architeture
because it closes opportunities and resources to the rest of the other members of the community. Whereas Storey opens up by saying that he wants to present more of an analysis of the invention of opera as art in nineteenth-century Manchester. In addition, Storey focuses on the “cultural meanings and the shifting social significance of opera, going in the nineteenth-century Manchester”. (Storey,435) Therefore that shows that shifting social significance results in a change in significant
This quote rings true evermore in the construction of buildings throughout history; the overarching principle being that value for money is achieved in terms of the quality, cost, time and buildability of the project.(1). Further research on the design criteria led me to produce sub criteria which form the basis for my design proposals. These include: accessibility (ease of access), aesthetics, functionality, productivity and sustainability. The cost implications of these criteria, form the platform

The ‘L’ block facing the south and west has been configured as the ‘Nature’ block. This four-storey ‘Nature’ wing features a green and blue roof planted with foliage, providing a variety of habitats to encourage the local wildlife. In the modern day Turkey, wide road of Marble slopes down to Celsus Ephesus Library, one of the ancient world libraries. In Ephesus, the library is one of the most beautiful structures. Construction of the building took place between 117AD and 135AD (Laale, 76). Vitruoya, a Roman architect designed the structure. The library was to memorize Celsus Polemeanus, a Roman senator, province of Asia General Governor. It was Julius Aquila-Celsus’ son initiative. Specifically Celsus loved books. The design
floor for air inlet, and 8 extraction fans with discharge capacity of 16 m3/s located at the smoke reservoir. Each level has a 20 m by 50 m floor plate on both sides with the central opening forming the atrium and the smoke reservoir. The model is a 5 storey atrium of 50 m high. Smoke used for the evaluation of the field of pepole vision, affects the evacuation time of people in the smoke. As shown the smoke obscuration is proportional to the conservation concentration in weight (kg/m3) and can also be
structure itself it is called a vertical campus because all the student facilities and amenities are in one soaring building. Furthermore, it is a big contrast to many American university campuses which are fashioned over a larger area of land. This 32-storey, steel and glass vertical Campus connects
