Ana Belén Montes was born to Emilia and Alberto Montes, both Puerto Rico natives, in 1957. Ana is the eldest of five children. Her father was an accomplished doctor in the United States army. Upon his retirement the family settled in a small town outside of Baltimore, MD where he set up a private psychiatric practice. Ana blossomed in Maryland where she enjoyed "summer, beaches...chocolate chip cookies, having a good time with fun people" and graduated from her local high school with an exceptionally high GPA. But behind the smiles and achievements she hid a dark family secret. Behind closed doors Ana's father was physically abusive to his children. With Ana Montes later telling the CIA Psychologist that, he “happened to believe that he had the right to beat his kids," and “He was the king of the castle and demanded complete and total obedience.” She said “My father had a violent temper, “We got it with the belt. When he got angry. Sure.” …show more content…
A CIA psychologist later wrote in her profile “Montes’s childhood made her intolerant of power differentials, led her to identify with the less powerful, and solidified her desire to retaliate against authoritarian figures,” Her “arrested psychological development” and the abuse she suffered at the hands of a temperamental man she associated with the U.S. military “increased her vulnerability to recruitment by a foreign intelligence service." When Ana was a junior at the University of Virginia she studied abroad and became associated with a Spanish student. The two became very close over their leftist ideals and political radicalisms. They spent time together during frequent anti-government and anti-American protest. A fellow college student and friend of Ana's stated “After every protest, Ana used to explain to me the ‘atrocities’ that the U.S.A. government used to do to other countries,” and “She was already so torn. She did not want to be American but

I have known Natalie Schieuer for almost half a year now, and in that time I have been incredibly pleased to meet such an amazing, talented, and brilliant young lady. I was Natalie’s counselor this summer at Nebraska Girls State. Girls State is a week-long camp, aimed towards education of state and local government. 400 of Nebraska’s top emerging high school juniors are chosen to attend this program, and within these numbers, Natalie still managed to shine through with her accomplishments and wit.
She was responsible, stood up to Trujillo, and followed her dreams to go to college and obtain a
In addition to my love of coming of age films, I was also engrossed in Real Women Have Curves because Ana and I share the same dream of graduating from college. I was glad to know that education was important to Ana. In many of the contemporary films, education doesn’t seem to be a high priority to young characters, and especially minorities. Ana had a teacher, Mr. Guzman, portrayed by George Lopez that encouraged her to attend college. He helped her with college applications, and pleaded with Carmen to let Ana attend Columbia University when she received a full scholarship. Similar to Ana, when I attended Harold Washington College, I had an educator who inspired me to achieve not only for a Bachelor’s, but a Doctorate degree.
To explain further the idea that Ana’s mother is a parody of a what a traditional Mexican mother, there are the
Raicine Rodriguez was born in San Bernardino California; she was the middle daughter of three girls. Her siblings and she had all different personalities; Raicine was the one who always seemed to think things through, perhaps a little too much. She lived her life as full as she allowed herself, while always thinking about the “what ifs,” before she gave her one-hundred percent. It was a very cautious act, but it held her back in many ways as well. Once in college it took her several years to decide what she wanted to major in. In her mid-twenties, she moved to Nashville for a job. Here was able to figure out the kind of person she wanted to be in life. All of her friends and family were in California so she was able to concentrate solely on

She was talking about her own story, her father’s career life, her friend Michael Matthews’s military experiences, the way that her mother taught her in her childhood. From those real-world experiences, we can see how the different environment, society background, and family influence individual in different ways; and how individuals with different personalities react in the same background environment. She made her academic studies simply enough by offering a share of context for readers.
Ana Clara was so lovely that young men of notable wealth would come from Leblon to meet her. They would come wearing pinstriped suits with shiny shoes and gold tie pins. To win Ana Clara’s affection, the men would bring her gifts of lavender soap, silver hairbrushes, and DVDs of American films, and they would fire their
As a recent graduate from Minnetonka high school, Niaz wished to experience a less structured, comforting lifestyle outside the Midwest and land of 10,000 lakes. After convincing her parents about the worthwhile investment, Niaz packed her bags and ventured out to the west coast of San Diego, California, taking a gap year to live with her sister, discover personal meaning, and explore the unknown.
Ana is one the main characters in the story. During the years, she lived in different neighborhoods in Cleveland and moved back to Gibb Street to take care of her parents. Ana was retired and her only occupation was looking outside and watching other people. She was noisy and suspicious in all the things which she saw around her. By the time when she saw Kim hiding something in the trashy lot, she was almost about to call the police. The reason why she acted in this way was the result of working in parole department for twenty years. Since she saw lots of things which may happen with people, her habit of making judgments was justified.

At some point, the life of any teen can be described as wild and rebellious. This, along with many other terms, perfectly describes my aunt Chinelo when she was a teen. She hated going to school so she would ditch and she would talk back to her teachers. She wouldn’t do her homework or her chores and she didn’t like to help others but she would expect others to help her with nothing in return. Many people thought of her as a bad child and they believed that she would end up as a nobody, but they were wrong. Now she is the total opposite of what she portrayed as a teen and it is all thanks to her realizing her own mistakes. She went to college, received a degree in education psychology, and is now a full-time teacher.
