If we all start recycling now we will have beautiful streets and roads not full of trash. I picked this topic because it is a worldwide problem and I think this topic can be solved. I was very curious about this topic and I wanted to know more about recycling. These are some driving questions I had at the beginning of this project. Why don’t a lot of people recycle? What is the most recycled item? Where is recycling a very big problem in the world? How can more people be involved with recycling? How many people and animals get affected by recycling every year? My driving question was how can we as people create a better recycling society.
Recycling is a very essential and crucial process in our world today. The term recycling means that waste can be converted into new products instead of being discarded. As the population continues to grow, humans are using more and more products. In order to reduce the amount of waste on planet Earth, and to preserve its resources, recycling is significant. Not only does recycling allow the environment to thrive, but it also allows living people to thrive as well. There are many materials that can be recycled. Plastics, electronics, aluminum, food and glass are only but a few products that can be recycled. Recycling can benefit our environment in numerous amount of ways. However, without recycling, negative impacts on our environment can occur. Some of these effects include pollution whether it is air, land or sea, depletion of natural resources and even an increase threat to global warming. Therefore, recycling is extremely important to sustain our environment.
In the not too distant future, recycling will no longer be speculated and studied. It will simply be a fact of everyday life. In the last 20 years, recycling rates in the United States have risen from 13 percent to almost 24 percent. More than ever before, recycled waste is being kept out of our county dumps and incinerators and is being put to many different uses, creating new jobs and companies. Those who don’t agree that recycling has any benefit say that recycling costs more than dumping, falsely claiming that recycling is a complete waste of money and time. However, recycling today is often less expensive than dumping or burning, and is quickly becoming the preferred alternative. In this essay, I want to show how recycling isn’t just a business or environmental issue, it is something much larger that we must embrace and make a priority in our every day living. As stewards of this planet, we are obligated to make everyone cognizant of how important recycling is to our existence, and pass what we have learned on to future generations. If we can only begin to think differently about how we handle our every day waste, we can help ensure a clean environment well into the future.

We recycle paper, plastic, cardboard, aluminum, glass, plastic, etc. We recycle to save landfill space, trees, energy, and money. We started recycling out of fear but in reality, everything we are afraid of isn't being helped by recycling. It's being made worse. I hope you come into my essay with an open mind and without biased opinions.

Our waste are piling up and continuously accumulating. Plastic waste is one of the biggest problems for us now. And our solution in this problem is recycling. In my opinion, recycling is a way to manage used items into new products. We can reduce, reuse, and recycling (3R) waste management (Peter, 2013). We can reduce our waste clothes with reuse it. There are some reasons why peoples recycle used or unwanted items, which are, prevent wasting unusable materials that still have usage after recycled, reduce the application of raw materials, reduce energy
Recycling can be very interesting and fun if you take the time to learn about it and its benefits. The reason that motivated me into choosing this topic is the fact that I am a recycler and I have experienced some the benefits first hand. I am so used to my habits towards recycling that my conscience will not let me not recycle. At home, no cans get thrown away and if I see an empty grocery bag in good condition it gets reused. There is no cost to recycling and sometimes it may even put some money back in our pockets. Recycling is a good example of a public good and it creates many cost and benefit situations. Recycling is one of the most important things that the human race should be doing right now. As the population grows, more materials will be needed to sustain it. Things like wood, plastic, aluminum, etc. These materials are used to support the human race in so many ways like transportation and storage. However, these materials will not last forever, especially with the growth rate of our population. That is where recycling comes in. Those materials can be used again and again and again, without having to create more of it. If everyone recycled, then the world could keep sustaining the population without running out of materials. Everyone should be required to recycle because it protects the environment, it will sustain our population for longer, and be more cost effective.
“While it’s true that the recycling message has reached more people than ever, when it comes to the bottom line, both economically and environmentally, not much has changed at all. Despite decades of exhortations and mandates, it’s still typically more expensive for municipalities to recycle household waste than to send it to a landfill. Prices for recyclable materials have plummeted because of lower oil prices and reduced demand for them overseas. The slump has forced some recycling companies to shut plants and cancel plans for new technologies.” said John Tierney is his article, “The Reign of Recycling”. What Mr.Tierney was saying in this paragraph was that recycling isn't making impact that it should. We have been doing a good job on contacting the public on the importance of reusing materials, however, even though companies who address recycling are doing a great job on spreading the message to bring change, Mr.Tierney’s view is that not much has changed over the years, which I have noticed for a while as well.
